Distro block or no distro block?

Hey all. I have a 2 channel amp that I want to use to power my front two components. I was wondering if I'd have to use a distro block for this amp and my sub amp...or could I just run another power cable from my battery?

The amp will most likely be up front somewhere and I think running a distro block would be kind of a pain in the ***.

Any thoughts?

personal choice, make sure if u use distro then run a bigger cable from teh battery and 2 smaller from the other end.
personnaly i use distro cause i just like the look

Distro it. Its cleaner and looks nice and less cables running around. Just remeber to distro it back with the grounds

So, if I just went the non-distro way until I get some extra money to grab a block, I can ground that one wherever I want, correct?

Like, I don't have to ground the amps at the same point, correct?

you SHOULD ground the amps at the same point, you should ground everything at the same point if possible

a distrobustion block is the right way to do this, some people could care less about doing things the right way though, so it's up to you. It makes things a lot cleaner, easier to wire and easier to troubleshoot.

distro it firs,t you'll save money on wiring. THink about it, do you want to run two 4 or 0 guagues from the hood to the trunk or just one and cheaply split it off into two short strands of 4 or 8 guage? Plus, distro blokcs, can allow room to grow, making them even more of a bargin. Ground to the same spot. I've heard grounding to the neg terminal on the battery is the best place, but still, just ground everything to the same spot or you'll be spending money on a ground loop isolator, among things.

In short, just distro it to and distro it ground and you'll probably only have to check your wiring once.

We ran a 1/0 run from the positive and negative terminals in my car, back to the rear passanger side pannel, behind it all. Have distribution for the positive and for the negative each. It means everything is grounded to one point and I KNOW it's a good ground too. Makes life SO much easier!

sweet, cause god knows if i did something stupid and fried a few hunrder in audio equipment and a fw thousand in computer, i'd be pretty ****ed

I'm only asking this because I really don't have the spare money to spend on distros. Also, this is just temporary. I am eventually going to distro the amps. I am not spending any money, I have all the cables I need. If I run two power cables with their own in-line fuses from the + battery terminal to the amps, then I just run two ground cables from each amp to the grounding spot I have, everything should work fine?

I already have a nice sanded down spot in my trunk that my current amp uses for ground, it works fine. If I just add the other amp's ground to this, then everything should be fine, correct?

I do appreciate the advice and suggestions thus far.

yes, it should work

however, i still recomend using a distrobution block

Around me you can pick up a 4ga to two 8 guage for around 15 bucks, it's fused too. Stinger was the brand I think. You don't need some fancy-*** distro. Just something that splits the wire.

The extra wire you would run will cost you more than a distro block. Plus you won't have to rip your car up again to run another wire. I tried running two wires and got a headache. I decided to go with distro block and I am alot happier with it. Go distro and thank yourself.

i'd say use the distro block. it's cheap anyway. i got mine for $5 at an audio shop. you'll save yourself a lot of trouble.
