No sound when connected laptop to HU

Hello all,

I am almost finished with my project except for one thing...>NO SOUND.

I have an Eclipse HU and running all my speakers via an AMP.

I have an AUX input on my HU but when I connect the cables to the AUX input & then to the headphone output on my laptop, I get no sound.

When I try the same thing on my stereo at home, it works just fine.

Do I need to buy something that I don't know about?

I've searched and I get the idea that it might have to do with the Voltage, but I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff.

So to sum it up - I get sound when I connect laptop to home stereo; I get NO sound when I connect it to the AUX input on my HU.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

- Sam

Might sound like a stupid question, but is the radio on when you try this? If not, maybe the HU isn't powering on the Amp.

Radio is on, it's switched to the AUX mode... Cd player & FM play fine... Just no sound through AUX (I don't know if it's a laptop sound card problem or the HU problem) although like i mentioned, the sound is fine when i hook it up to my home stereo

Didn't seem likely, but just suggesting the easy things first.

Have you tried hooking anything else up to the AUX input?

it happens

I've had a few similar experiences. So now I start there instead of ending there.

Like trying to trouble shoot my T1 along time ago (with the help of several on site techs for a couple of hours). First thing I checked was the cables (including from from the CSU/DSU to the router). It was a hand made one, so I replaced it with a brand new one I had purchased. I get my service via MFS over VERIZON lines, so when there is an issue, lot's of people get involved and fingerpoint at each other as to where and who's problem it is.

Turns out that my instinct was right, but the "brand new in the package" cable I replaced it with was bad too.

We all felt a bit stupid on that one.

hehe, it really does, i was going to tell you "are you sure its the cable" last night in my little post whoring/advice giving mood at 2AM last night, but thought you covered that . One of the posts last night was a story about a similar, and expensive, blonde moment i had. I'm just glad you got it solved
