Focal Amplifiers
for those of you who are interested, Focal is coming out with amplifiers.
They look sick IMO. Absolutely beautiful!
The specs aren't bad either....
but no ideas on pricing yet....still waiting to hear back from Jesse at Orca.

If they are as good as their speakers, they should be very good amps

Thats silly, were they just bought out by someone?
I know MB Quart ran a series of amps after being bought out by Rockford Fosgate, but then when they were sold, the amps went away. Same deal here?
Personally, I think it sort of takes away from Focal. I think it would be better to have a sister company that just produced amplifiers, and then have Focal just produce speakers. Each company would be known for excellence in their own product. It is too hard to be known for everything, so pick and choose is what I say!

I really love the way that these amps look. Really simple yet elegant. Of course they better be good coming from focal. I see no problem at being awesome at everything. that is assuming that the amps turn out to sound as good as they look.

how in the world is it silly that one of hte best speaker companies out there is now producing amplifiers (that are no doubt designed with their speakers in mind)?
Focal hasn't been bought out.
There aren't many companies out there who can even think of producing an amplifier that's close to the quality of these amps.

Ok - got some info on the amps.
They should be avaliable end of April, middle of March.
The pricing should be able the same as the LRx. Retail pricing is as follows:
2.75 – 549
2.150 - 799
4.75 - 799
5.500 - 1099
1.800 - 899
Dual M.- 2999
Should have some more info in a few weeks!

I don't know if I would be keen on the mono's I mean lets face it. Focal make great full range speakers but their bottom end has always .."lacked"

Not the best idea. A sister company needs to be remarketed. A new company needs to prove itself and that will take years. Its kinda why when the Esoteric Group got bought, they pushed StreetWires and not Tiff as StreetWires, being cheaper, had more "street" recognition. They didn't want to spend the money promoting the Tiffs and pushing them up again. Advertizing is more costly than R&D in some cases.
Amps are still to expensive for me

compared to their top end, yes, but they are still better than a lot of other comparable speakers.
word is, they are to be along the same lines as the LRx amps....and if those 'lack'...well....we're on the wrong page....hehehe

Haha, Red, just what are you trying to say about those LRx amps? . Focal isn't splitting their amps into different lines yet though right? Haha, I dig the subtle persuasion.

To RedGTI and GenesisFactor,
All I am saying is that it seems like the quality level usually drops when companies start to broaden their range of products. We know they can do one thing great, but hopefully this doesn't turn into doing two things good rather than great.
Hopefully I am worried over nothing.

for mid range quality companies - I can agree.
however, for higher end companies....not so much the case
I think you're worried over nothing - I mean, hell, just look at the specs on the big bad ***...
TWO balanced power supplies
USB input
2 x 300
s/n is high (greater than 110)
damping favtor of greater than 600
takes an optical in
two crystal converters
toshiba output stage
etc

You guys are crazy, this is a great company doing a great thing... these amps are going to rock and you know it. Focal isn't being sold out, however I fully agree that MBQuart completely sold out. Who didn't hate those amps with the silly connection plugs, crappy output. Next to an audison it sounded like FM radio.
I can't wait to get my hands on a dual monitor, all you need is that sucker and a carPC since it has digital input.

I like them, look clean and seem like they will provide clean sound.
Okay this is probably a basic/dumb question but what is phase control?
