Im not sure if this has been mentioned as yet but the processor im using is a Dehringer DCX2496, it has 1/3rd octave eq for each channel output, active crossovers, variable crossover filters & slopes from 6db to 48db, time alignment plus a whole load of other things, but the best part is it can hook into a pc & with the free software all the units functions are controled from the screen. The only downside is it doesnt have a very strong preamp stage but as ive got almost 11 volts of signal im not that fussed.

As far as hardware goes I may have found a solution that would mean (I think) that you wouldn't even need a soundcard, and that would give 16 Analogue RCA outs, with 24bit/96khz capability, and all you would need is 2 Firewire ports on your PC, plus of course, the necessary software.

they are probably trs balanced outputs. still usable you just ground the -signal wire to the shield This is what i am doing with my install. or you can find an amp with balanced inputs (zapco amps have them) and you'll reap the benefits of a balance signals

hrmm - where are you going to find a place to mount that in a car and still have clearance for all of the connections?

I have a wagon, space isn't a huge issue for me. I see what you mean tho. I couldn't find dimensions on it, any idea what they might be? Space aside, would it work do you think?

Nevermind about sizes, found them. Thought those sizes were the power supply, but if the power supply is that big, then there's something wrong...

If you have problems with the size, and you know a lot more than I do about electronics, you might be able to modify it and remove the 16 analogue inputs. That would save a LOT of space if it can be done...

Im using an Asus P2 which doesnt take a normal card, only the std audio out on the motherboard.
The voltage out of it was useless so i used an trick from my SPL days & im now using a modified Genesis stereo 60 as a pre-amp from the pc to the processor.
This works a whole load better than say a Phoenix Gold PLD-1 or an Audio Control Matrix/Line driver because i can use the gains as output voltage adjustment.
