i haven't tried it out but im planning on doing just that with my setup that im building ove rthe next month. I think the vibration would severly hurt the life and reliability of a hard drive not to mention all of the solid state components. I was planning on building a wooden box that will encompass my computer case, the case wil be metal but sit on blocks of foam inside the wood box which will be bolted in place. Then I'll cut out holes for placing 4 80 mm fans 2 in 2 out in the wood box, and i will have some standard fans in the case will not be covered by foam (air will be able to flow to the internal components to prevent over heating but the foam should reduce much of the vibration. Since I am welding my case together my self i am planning on having the hard drive in the case held in 3 directions by some runner straps (thick rubber bands). This will help just for overall vehicle movement and some vibration dampening. Since i haven't built this yet i don't knwo how well it will work. I know someone from missourri who did somethign similar but had too much foam so he had overheating problems. I will post on here how it works after i have it built. has anyone else tried something similar?

How about using "DYNOMAT PREMIUM" or anyother sound dumping solutions on the case?

that could help, but there will be direct air flow into the case for cooling unless i go w/ liquid cooling. Thus I wanted to dampen the airwaves that are going into the case and foam would do a better job of this then dynomat, dynomat would help reduce the vibration of the main case not free moving air
