Audio formats supported by OEM HU cd players?

Hey guys,

I have a quick question and I don't have time to do a bunch of searching and reading. A friend is over and wants a copy of an audio book I have, which is recorded as an MP3. She has the factory stereo head unit in her truck.

What format should I record this audio book onto cd so that it will be compatible with her HU. Should I use MP3, WMV, etc?

Little confused.... but unless her factory unit specifically says it will play an mp3 or wma cd then you'll need to burn as a normal audio cd.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think standard CD format is .WAV
But your CD will have to be burned as an audio CD, not a data .WAV

Yea, CD-DA or RedBook. What are you burning it with? Doesn't it have an Audio CD profile/format?

EDIT: Just looking at the above post..... yea, the audio file should be in the .wav format, those usually a burning program can use most audio formats to burn an Audio-CD, it just first converts the file to a .wav and then burns it. But you can't just burn the .wav file to a cd like omega said, that's just a data cd with a file on it.

Any burning software I have ever used has had the option to burn as audio cd (even from .mp3). So it should convert it to cda format for you.
