SB Audigy NX 2, How To mix Center channel to L/R front?

I know this has been posted before, but today is not my day, since I can't seem to find it.

My question is, how do I mix the center channel on a 5.1 setup to be played through the front left and right channels? My setup is an Audigy SB 2 NX (the external USB), with three lines from it, to my front amp, my rear amp, and my sub amp. The sub line also doubles as a center line in the Audigy, but I don't want the center channel played through there, I want it mixed into the front L/R.

The obvious answer is to set the speaker setup in the Creative Console to 4.1, except there is no 4.1 option. There is 4 channel option, but then there is no sub (.1) output, which is not what I want.

Any ideas? Or even a link to a thread that talks about this, since I can't seem to find it.

Thanks
Dave

I didn't quiet get your problem but i had something simillar.

My sub amp is 2 ch. the sub/center output on my 5.1 x-fi gives out mono output so i had to use a converter (splitter):

3.5 mono jack ==> 2 RCA outputs.

now i have the mono signal split to 2 rca outputs for my subs amp

Bah, that solution doesn't work for me.

Quote:
In Windows mixer (Dbl click the speaker icon in the tray) go to the Options menu then Properties. There should be 3 radio buttons - Playback, Recording and Other. Select "Other" and you should have the option in a pull-down box of "Multi Channel" or something similar. Press OK and the front, rear, center and LFE channels appear as sliders. Under the Rear Speaker slider there is an Advanced... button. Clicking this brings up some more options. Here you can alter the Bass/Treble of your sound (if supported - my soundcard doesn't), and below are the options "Magic5.1 Enable" (which mixes any stereo sound to use all channels - so your music will come out of all speakers - very handy!), and "Mix Surround to Front".
The Advanced... button under the Center channel slider also has two options: "Exchange Center/LFE" (swaps bass and center channel around), and "Mix Center/LFE to front" (This is it! and it works flawlessly. Check this box and the sub and center channel will mix to the front speakers. Dont worry about the sub channel as your speakers probably wont sound those frequencies anyway.)

The above was the listed solution, but on my Windows Mixer, the "Other" is grayed out. Anyone have any ideas?

Dave

i've been researching this as well. Funny thing...creaive si the onlyone who thinks that their system has a 4.1 setting.

Anyways, here's the tutorial on how to connect the card to a 4.1 system (one of Creative's no less...)

From that website:

Quote:
In the Creative Surround Mixer, choose 4.1 Speaker in the Speaker Settings window, and deactivate the option Digital Output Only.

Kind of funny, since THERE IS NO 4.1 SPEAKER SETTING!!!

That is really annoying. Not on your part, Genesis, but on Creatives.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.
