static/noise from speakers

i just installed the computer and there is static coming from the speakers. it's a really bad whine that gets louder according to the RPMs there's also this pulsing noise that come from the speakers. it's extremely loud. when i unplug the RCAs from the motherboard the noise goes away. and when i plug in my ipod to the RCAs, it plays music fine.

i have an opus 120W psu powered by a 10 gauge power wire. the grounding point is the battery. and i am using an epia m10000. everything is inside the glove box.

i tried searching and i see that most people suggest a ground loop isolator? i'm not sure what this is or what this does. do you guys know what my problem is or a way to diagnose the problem and to figure out a solution? thanks.

Your computer power supply and the amplifier/head unit should have the same grounding point. Isolators will help but won't get at the root problem.

hm..i'm using the stock amplifier in my car that's under the passenger seat, so i think it'll be too hard to ground my stock amplifier

That could be why. The stock amp may require a certain impedence that your head unit does not provide

i don't have a headunit. and i'm pretty sure that's not the problem...

replace head unit with source. All the same thing. The signal impedence may not match the factory amp

I have the same exact problem. A whine that goes with my RPM (my friend thought i installed a supercharger or turbo, lol), and just a crappy noise that kind of pulses for half second over and over.. I dont have an amp, i just have my aftermarket stereo hooked up and i am using the aux input port to hook it to my computer.

if we can find a solution here that would be great..

find out where the ground comming out of your deck(head unit) is, and connect that ground to the ground from your computers power supply. Then connect it all back to the chassis. Just make sure to mind your fuses and connect everything after the fuses. I hope that made sense.

i'm using a stock amp under the passenger seat. so you're saying i have to take out the seat and cut the ground wire that goes into my amp and ground it at the same point as my power supply? can i just run the ground to the battery? also is this the only solution? because i don't really want to ground my stock amp or cut it or anything. thanks

Your stock amp is already grounded, likely to somewhere on the chassis and also the same point as your head unit. You need to find out where that point is and ground your computers' power supply at that location.
