I'm a noob and this is my first time installing a radio on any car. I have the speaker wires hooked up 2 front and 2 back. My trouble is installing the power cable and negative cable and also the memory cable. The deck I got has a red wire that says 9turn on +ACC) and a yellow cable that says (Must be connected to battery + 12V) I don't have a specific wire reference for the neon's factory wires but a general pdf file I downloaded says;
(12Volt battery pink color or pink w/white stripe) and another saying (12volt Ignition wire red w/white stripe) with this info could anyone tell me which ones match up? I did get the deck on once then I blew the radio fuse. I replaced the fuse but I have never been able to get the deck back on.

PS: if anyone has a Neon factory specific guide for installing a radio, please hook it up, thanks

Turn-ON/ACC+(RED) ->> Ignition (Red w/White Stripe)
Battery(YELLOW) ->> Battery (Pink or Pine w/White Stripe)

I'll double check those colors and get you a wiring diagram later.

AHHH! Go spend the extra few dollars and get a wire harness to adapt to your car. It'll be worth it and save you lots of headaches.

I would absolutely recommend a harness adapter. So clean and easy, thats the way I like it.

And yes, those colors are correct.
Pink for battery.
Red-White for ACC.

Walky thanks, that diagram seems a bit confusing but I'm going to look at it longer.

So a wire harness from like walmart would illiminate any cutting or wire connecting, it would basicaly just snap on?.

snap on to the car yea. you will still need to wire the harness, but alot easyer if you dont chop up your car's wiring. I think you can get ones specificly for your deck and car at some shops, but those are spendy, too much of a hedache to find. Just go with the 7$ wal*mart ones.

Ok I did what you said and I still get nuthing. I tested the wires for continuity and only the red w/white stripe gave me some voltage. I also noticed a fuse is burned a 4A fuse slot 12 says Illum lamp or lights, I'm wondering if that can be the problem?

That looks a little dangerous.
It appears that some of those bare wires in your dashboard (like the illumination wire) got shorted to ground for a time and that is probably what caused your illumination fuse to blow. I would guess your dash lights aren't working anymore, right?

I would suggest disconnecting the car battery when you work on this stuff, and get some insulation on every wire that you won't be using, such as the illumination wire. Electrical tape will work for this. Then use the diagram posted above to connect the appropiate wires. From the picture it looks like you have the right wires.

Get everything connected and double check it. Re-connect your battery and check all of your fuses.

Your battery voltage from the car (the pink wire) should be at 12 volts all the time. If it is not then Fuse #13, a 10A, needs to be replaced.

Yep my dash wasn't working but I replaced that fuse and now they're fine. slot 13 is empty there is no fuse to put there. I checked all fuses and found that the cigarette lighter fuse is burnt, I replaced it started the car and it burned again. i'm pretty sure I have the wires figured out, maybe a relay or something blew? or is there another fuse that effects the pink wire because I get no voltage on the pink wire just the red w/white stripe wire gives me around that much voltage.

It sounds like you have a short somewhere. Are you sure none of those radio wires are touching anything they shouldn't be? Make sure there is no exposed wires that could touch each other or anything in the dashboard.

The fuse for the pink wire is fuse#13 but it is located in the Power Distribution Center under the hood. Check this, I bet it will be blown too.

Sweet!, it worked the radio is now thanks man your the **** and very happy today!

One more thing, I noticed the speakers sound like crap, they're giving off a crackling noise specialy when I turn the volume higher, could that be a wiring connection problem?

Double check all of your connections, particularly the connections to the speakers. Is it happening on all of the speakers? Does it happen whether the car is running or not? It sounds like your speakers are blown. You said it happens when you turn the volume up. How loud is it when they start to distort?

I had 2 wires that looked similar mixed up, i got it working now, the crackle noise is my 2 front speakers are blown gonna replace them both and I'll be all set. thanks for again walky you been a good help. peace
