Surround from a 4 channel amp? Possible?

I wanted to make sure that it was possible to run my stock speakers on my 2002 Trailblazer (two front, two front tweeters, and two rears) on a 4 channel amp, and still get a phantom center going (either thru the amp itself or software) and get surround sound for watching DVD's on my Carputer....

Am I wrong? Or is something more involved....

Note that I am just making sure before I buy is all... I have searched, but nothing this particular came up. So, just making sure

TIA

ONLY if the 4ch amp has separate inputs for front and rear speakers. Just from what I've seen they just use one set of inputs to feed all 4 channels so in that case you won't be able to do true surround sound.

THis is actually never the case...i have personally used around 6 or 7 different 4 channel amps and they've all had seperate inputs for front and rear...left and right. Only the jl 300/4 had the OPTION of using the front inputs as rear inputs (to save you from running an extra set of cables), but generally they will have seperate inputs.

Like i said....it's possible only if your soundcard supports phantom center.
