I read a bit more on the avs forum and it seems to be the case.

Also PMd someone who got it to work with an ALC880 chip to ask them some questions about it.

long time coming, I know, but I wanted to update that I found that you don't need to do anything special to get bit perfect playback out of this chipset.

Just in case someone was searching and wondering.
