I am only getting left output to all my speakers. The music is centered fine on normal pc speakers but I can tell in the car from certain songs that split the sound from left to right that I am not getting right ouput. My set up is sp13000 using onboard sound. I have two y splitters to rca jacks so I can run four channels. I also tried to click: link L/R in the vinyl deck controls, but when I hit test all speakers it only makes noise for front left and rear left. Anyone know how to fix this problem so the computer will mix the left and right outputs or why the Y spliter can't split the signal.

Sometimes those Y splitters don't sit in the jack right, I use them for my iPod to car stereo. After awhile the connection gets loose I guess then sound only comes out of the left speakers. For a temporary fix you can just play around with the jacks, usually turning/twisting the 3.5mm jack, but for a more permanent fix you will probably need to replaces them, try getting a higher quality one. This is one of the reasons I am going to an all digital route.

i don't think its a bad conetion because these make tighter conetion than most i have used in the past. I think they just might not split left and right or something so i will try to replace them if i must, but can i set up the pc to send out one output instead of left and right.

Before you replace you might as well try the connections. Even if they seem tight they may not be in right. If all else fails you may want to try swapping in a spare sound card for diagnostic purposes. Y splitters don't split the signal it is mereley converting the connections.

That said depending on your software you should be able to mix the left and right signals into both channels. Again depending on your software. If this dosn't work then there is probably something wrong with your deck/head unit.
Come to think of it you may be able to mix both channels from your head unit. However this will limit all your audio to the left channel only it will be heard over all your speakers.

I don't use a HU. Also i know its not the conetion because both front and rear channels do the same thing and they are on seprate spliters. I want to mix the signals from windows if possible. Someone else has had to have had this problem.

So how does this connect? Are you using two outputs on your soundcard, one for front, one for rear, or do you have one output on your soundcard, that you're splitting, and splitting again to front / rear?

This sounds almost like you have a mono splitter somewhere instead of a stereo, or something to that effect. It's possible, but unlikely that it's something actually in the computer.

When you split stereo-miniplug cables, if you have a mono-cable in there, at some point you're going to lose the right channel and only get left channel.

Proper stereo connectors on mini-plugs have two 'rings' on the connector, so there's actually three seperate contacts. Left - Tip, Right - Ring, Ground - Shield

On a mono connection you only have tip and shield.

So in conclusion, it sounds to me like one of the cables you're using to split is mono and not stereo.

Make sure all of the cables, adapters, and splitters you are using are stereo. If not you will quickly find yourself without a right channel.

I am using onboard sound on a epia sp13000 like stated in the first post. I have a splitter for the front channels and a splitter for the rear channels. I thought it was stereo and it looks like stereo because their are two cables coming out like in the picture, but that has to be the problem because normal pc speakers work so its not the pc and that is the only split then i have four separate rca cords cables going to the amp. I am off to the radio shack.
