I don't know how to wire an amp, am I stupid?
I've got a complete stereo wired up in my car, it's easy to do. But once I switch from my regular head unit flip out screen to an actual VGA screen, then how do I hook it up? Where does the remote lead wire go? Where's the subwoofer out cable? And where do the speakers wire up to? I just thought of this, guess I should have considered it before I got the computer.

Remote wire lead to amps: On M2-ATX there is a header pin for this. Even had "anti-thump"
Subwoofer: The black connector on the sound card when set to 4.1/5.1 sound through XP.
Speakers: Use the blue and green and maybe if fancy red/yellow sound card connectors.
To hook up the speakers and subwoofer, use 1/8" to RCA adapters, send to amp, and from amp to speakers.
Has been discussed many many many many many times.

What if I have the M1-ATX? Onboard sound? M10000 motherboard? I don't have a screen yet, I have to buy one.

If you have the M10000, then use the green and blue for front and back speakers. Each port carries 2 channels, so you have 4. Front-Left, Front-Right on 1, and Rear-Front, Rear-Right on the other. Then through the M10000 driver software you can configure the Microphone (red) port to be another speaker out. Set to subwoofer and run that to your subwoofer amp. The red port is mono, so good for a subwoofer. I'm not sure if the M1 has the remote on, look in the book. If you can't find it I will try.

Wow, there's a lot more thought to this than I considered. I wish I hadn't ordered it all so hastily. So here are my final questions, I don't think they're too noobish, I do know a lot about car audio, just nothing about circuit boards.
My PSU is 90 watts, can it take all this, GPS, bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a screen? Plus other miscellaneous USB stuff like a card reader or whatever? Damn, should have gotten the M2-ATX for $20 more.....
So let me get this straight....
The motherboard connects to the amps via 4 speaker out ports and the microphone port. Then one amp to the sub and one amp to 4 speakers.
The PSU has a remote lead that goes where? It also has power to the battery, and ground to the chassis.
The amps have a remote lead that goes where? They also have a power to the battery and ground to the chassis and my mono sub amp also has a wire to a remote bass knob but that's irrelevant.
Each speaker has a ground as well I guess?
The screen has a remote lead, where does this go? And they have power from the PSU or motherboard? And ground to the board I guess? And USB for touchscreen? What about a remote?

I'm trying to get it all figured out so I can do mine and then I'll post a DIY on how to wire up the entire system.

it really sounds like you need to do a LOT more reading before you stuble into this again.
do your research, read the FAQ, etc. Else you're going to get your self into a lot of trouble.

I got my Ampie so it's coming together now but I still have the question of wiring the speakers. I searched for 20 minutes and found some other interesting stuff but nothing on how to do this. So I know 4 wires have to go to the amp and then 4 wires out to the speakers but which wires from the Ampie? My hardware is in my signature, I still have to buy a 4 channel amp. I want 5.1 channel sound eventually, so I need a 4 channel and not a 2 channel right? I didn't get a manaul with my motherboard.

Ok. On the M1, there is the amp remote turn on. Connect to amp.
On the mobo, there are 3 "headphone" looking 1/8" jacks. Green, Blue, Red. By default, the green is lineout, the blue is rear line out, and the red is microphone or line in (same thing). The green and blue, both carry 2 channels of sound. Right and Left. So if you get 1/8" jack to RCA, you will see one plug to 2 RCA connectors. Get 2 of the adaptors (like $3 @ radioshack). Now you have 4 RCA connectors. Front left and front right from the green port, and then rear left and rear right from the blue. If you get a 4 channel amp, then the 4 connectors plug right in.
Now the sound goes from computer to amp. You still need speakers. The amps should have a minimum of 8 outputs. A positive and negative for 4 speakers totalling 8. Each of those goes to one of the speakers in your car (should be 4 -- WOW!!! It matches...)
Now you have COMPUTER --> AMP --> SPEAKERS --> BADGERS. Or close to that. the last is optional high end equiptment.
You have 4 channel sound.
For 4.1 (4 channel + a sub), you need the mobo's drivers to convert the microphone port to a monophone (1channel) output instead of the 1 channel input. That is all controlled by software, so yes you do need the drivers. Get a mono 1/8" to single RCA and connect to another mono channel amp. Get the subtle mono?! Then wire that to your subs.
5.1 channel sound has a center speaker to make it the "5" instead of "4". Most cars don't have a center speaker, so you'll probably end up having 4.1Channel sound.
And if you spend a tad bit more time searching, really in newbie section, you will find some helpful wiring diagrams pointing out just what I said and more. Try refining your search to the newbie section, or just browse through. Tons of useful info, and I think this stuff is even a sticky...

Wow, that's awesome, I totally get it now. I have a 250 watt D class Rockford Fosgate mono amp already that I've had for years so I'll use that along with a 4 channel amp I have to buy. Good read!
