Ground Loop Isolator

There is interference playing out of my subwoofers. Everything from revving the engine to ejecting a CD.

My Set-Up: 3 kenwood 10" subs bridged to a 1200 watt sony amp, connect through a capacitor that is grounded to the car.

When put the ground loop isolator between the RCA cables and the amp, the subs are muted and no sound comes out at all. The same happens when i connect it through the back of my head unit.

Whats going on here?

Either the amp or headunit is not ground properly. My guess is that the headunits preamp output's ground is fried.

Plug your ipod into the amplifier inputs, get sound?
