Pinout for Toyota CD Changers

OK guys,

I've been scouring the web for about a week, and I found one, yes ONE, Pinout, Pin Out, or Pin-out (for the search function to work) diagram for '97 to 2002 Toyota Factory CD Changer connectors.

Here it is, to help others in their search.

Connector on HeadUnit, from back...

no desc.
1 +12v out
2 mute
3 S.GND
4 L+ in
5 R+ in
6 +12V ACC
7 TXT
8 TX+
9 TX-
10 GND
11 L- in
12 R- in

So, does ANYONE have the pinouts for the NEW (2003+) Toyota CD Changer connetor?

I'm trying to make an adapter cable between the two.

I bought a Wire-Tunes adapter for the iPod (from Metra), and it only came with cables for the 2003+ connectors. They don't make an adapter. I purchased a PXHTY1 adapter that allows the Peripheral Electronics iPod2Car adapter to work with the older connectors, which would work fine, except that on the other end the Wire-Tunes uses a 20-pin "computer ATX" style connector, whereas the iPod2Car uses a 22-pin ATX connector. Of course, they don't use the same color scheme.

So I need to remove the pins from the 22-pin ATX connector on the Peripheral adapter and put them in the proper place on the 20-pin connector from the Metra adapter. This is a pain under any circumstances, but it is impossible without pinouts for BOTH old AND new connectors.

ANY help is appreciated.

Wes

PS. I have also done this with the metra Wire-Tunes adapter for VW, if anyone is interested. VW old and new HeadUnits are Pin and Protocol compatible, but use different connectors. VW is kind enough to have the pinouts on a sticker on top of the HeadUnit, though! Worked like a charm.

That's Great

JBors,

That's great, thanks a bunch! I just noticed you make your own adapters of this sort as well. I was reading about it earlier.

No one seems to have any AUX inputs that work with newer Mercedes Benz Head Units (2000+). Do you happen to have any such thing, or any knowledge of them, or know anyone who does?

Thanks again,

Wes

i really don't want to spent money buying a aux adapter for this cd-changer port, can anyone tell me what kind of signal i need to make to send to the radio so that it will trick the radio to get the sound source from L+,L-, R+,R-? Or can someone tell me how we can make a simple aux-input from this known pin-out diagram bypaing aux adapter?

I bought this device for my Toyota: http://indashpc.org/new/aux_adapters/car2aux-toy.html

Works like a charm and might be an alternative for you.

i think this might work. it looks to me that signal is ground. so grounded that signal pin, and press CD buttom, may be it will work telling HU to take audio input from cd changer port. If anyone has already taking about toyota HU, give it a shot, and let us know the answer

If this helps anyone out there..if you really need to find a wiring diagram and are having no luck goto http://www.alldata.com/vehicle_owner/index.html. it costs like 20 bucks for a one year subscription, but will have evey piece of info about your vehicle you would ever need to know, more so than just audio diagrams, but "every" diagram that was ever made for you vehicle, from electrical to differentials.
