Questions about kx project

I plan on using my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS, then use rcas to my Audiocontrol 6XS, then rcas again to my 2 amps. I know the kx project drivers provide a lot of different options to customize the sound. I was just wondering how I should properly tune my system.

1) Tune the kx drivers, then work on the amp gain. (I think this one)
2) Tune the kx drivers, not bother with amp gain.
3) Mess with the amp gain then fine tune the sound using the kx drivers.

they are not really related. first set up the drivers so that the correct signals are going to where they are supposed to go then after that, set your gain then do the final tweeking.
