PXA-H701- Need some help
I have been racking my brain on this one and have come up with nothing so far. So I thought some of the pxa experts on here might be able to offer some insight. Maybe I am overlooking something simple. Anyways here is the situation.
I am getting sound from the right front speaker and the sub only. So I started at the speaker end and have verified the connections at each speaker and at the amp end, all check good. I even verified with a battery that each speaker wire is good all the way through. Then I checked RCA's which all check good. I even switched the rca's around to insure that I didn't have a bad channel on the amp. The scenario is the same wether I am watching a movie or listening to music, and in dolby digital. I am running frodo player, but nothing changes in media player or any other program.
Any ideas that you guys an think of? I have tried almost everything that I can think of, but maybe I am overlooking something.
Todd

Analog in or fibre optic? Biamping front channel? That 701 has a million settings, did you find the fader?

Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that it is fiber optic. I am using one alpine 5 channel amp. I am not sure what you mean by fader. Are you refering to the level adjustment under the 5.1 setup or is there something that I am missing?

I'm sure you may have checked this but i'm just making sure. Is each speaker "on". You should know by now that you can turn on each speaker one-by-one throught the pxa-h701. Also wrxsti was refering to the fader control through the pxa-h701. Are you using the Rux-C701 or through a alpine headunit that compatible with the h701

Is that the fibre optic 5.1 alpine amp? I assume you have no head unit, carputer to 701. Fader is front to back control, balance is left and right and can be changed from 701. As said, individual speakers may be turned on and off also, did you install it yourself? Have you read the manual? (not being rude, but I have seen the manual on the net if you need one).

No offense taken wrx I have searched the manual but haven't found what I am looking for. I did install it myself. I have done alot of car stereo installs, but this is my first experience with the h-701. It is a standard amp so I am running rca's from the h701 to the amp. I have made sure that all of the speakers are on. I am controling it through the c701, but I don't think that I have seen typical fader or balance controls. Is it similar to controls on standard alpine head units? Thanks for the help guys.

Are the speakers faint or they're just not working? Or whenever you are playing something when you hit the disp button, till it shows the speaker inputs, how many inputs does it show?
There are many other things you can check on there:
The x-overs has a db adjustment on each channel
Within the setup>5.1 setup>output levels you can adjust the volume on each speaker.
On your source, is the balance set to the right?
If anything else i'd say its a bad unit if you checked everthing

Mine is not in my car right now, but I think you hold "menu" for couple seconds and fader/balance/sub level will pop up. Make sure your fronts are set to "full" range if you are not biamped (if you are using crossovers after the amp).

Correction, Its the "enter" button on the Rux-C701. While you are not in any other menu press the "enter" button to scroll through Fade>Bal>Sub>Volume

Ok so I verified that the balance and fader are set to 0. I verified that the balance is nuetral on my pc.
Is there a way to do a reset or restore factory defaults on the h701? I must have changed something that has caused it to act up, but I can't seem to find it.
I am also going to try reinstalling my drivers and ac3 filters and such to see if that may remedy my problem.
I don't think that the unit is bad. because I had sound coming from all speakers at one point in time with all the same equipment.
Thanks for all of your responses. This is really making me start to doubt myself, but I am sure that there is something strange I managed to do.

Does the left speaker never play?
I had a similar problem, but what happened was that sound would only come out of my right speaker and subs when i first started road runner. Then, when i hit the "next" button to change the track using my steering wheel controls, the sound would then come out of both speakers. Is this your problem as well, or does the sound never come on the left speaker?
Like wrksti said...disconnect the power long enough for the H701 to reset and (after making sure that all of the connections are correct) if it still doesn't work, then the problem isn't with the H701. It could be your amp or maybe a disconnected speaker wire.

Thanks guys for all of your help. I reset the H701 and it seems to be working fine for now. I still haven't figured out what I changed that caused it to act weird.
Dubs, the left speaker was never playing, but its all good now.
Thanks again everyone.

just a heads up - keep a log of your settings in the processor. You will spend all this time tuning and tweaking then something like this will happen and you will loose it all.
Just a little .xls file or something to keep all of your changes.
Never know when it might come in handy next time!

You could also keep a preset on the H701 that has no settings changed so that you have a baseline to work off of.
