VW Golf 5 Aux Adaptor - Help!
Hi all,
This is a double post because I've been asked to, so please don't flame me!
I don't think the answer to this is already here. I used to have a Seat Ibiza with a stock Grundig head unit. I bought a cheap Aux adaptor to give me a 3.5mm jack input, and everything just worked - when I pressed the CD button (I think it was labelled that - it was about 6 years ago!) the stereo showed AUX and everything was hunkydorey.
I've bought a similar adaptor for my Golf Mk 5 with a standard single CD head unit. The cable just has the basic 3 wires: L, R and earth. The connector was wrong so I've wired it to the back of the stereo myself.
I've simply connected the L to CD-L, the R to CD-R and the earth to CD-earth (simple eh?) - I would expect by some miracle that this would just work.
However, everytime I press the 'CD' button, my stereo trys to play the CD in the slot and never goes to an 'AUX' mode. Is there something else I need to connect? I've searched and searched and searched but can't find anything useful.
I urgently need help - this is my first step in the carputer I've been planning for (literally) 8 years.
Cheers,
Bob

Hmm..... here's an image of what I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting
Looks like the RCD300 isn't intelligent enough to just 'work' like my old Grundig was. And it looks like I'll have to buy a new cable like the one YevMeister has.
Yevmeister - there is probably no point me buying yours because it would be prohibitively expensive to ship to the UK! Cheers anyway.....
Odyssey - cheers for your message - I wish I'd seen your images before i dismantled my dash! The only problem is that the port where you've inserted your AUX cable, doesn't exist on my RCD300 standard stereo. Boo!
Well, it looks like I'm buying a new cable....
Cheers all,
Bob
