Stuck an confused !!!
Hi.. im a bit confused about wat i can run off my amp... it a 500w Renegade 2 channel amp,
i want to run a set of these - JBL Components
but will my amp blow them up or distort them or just not work alltogether??
heres my system,
Head unit - JVC KD-G521
Speakers - Standard pug 306 fronts, 2x mutant 2way in rear.
Amps - 2x 500w Renegade (one running nothing.. one running two maxgear 10" 400w subs) yes they sound cheap... but they sound awesome.

you have 2 channels of amplification...but you have 3 sets of speakers that you want to power. you could run both of those speakers off of one channel if you wire them in series (doesn't look like that amp is 2 ohm stable so that is your only option)
holly crap are those components expensive....i sure hope the sound is justified by the price. have you listened to them yet?

have my doubts about the renagade amp. i'm sure it wont put out 500watts, not even at the maximum! stay with renomated brands, even if it means you'll have to spend a little more money!

how did you come up with 400w each? the amp can only push 500w max from what it says on that site. even at max it would only get 250 wmax to each sub. but it sounds to me like you would be getting more like 100wrms to each sub. if they sound good to you then thats great. but it doesnt solve your issue about powering the components. You may want to consider buying a better amplifier for the components and keeping that amp just for the subs. If cost is an issue, you may have better luck getting less expensive components and getting a higher quality amp. then gettting a ****ty amp and great components. most of the distortion that the amp you have now is being hidden because it's pushing subs...you'll definately notice the distortion if you use that thing to power some good components. just my .02

simple... this is how he comes up with the 400watts each....
as many other newbies he thinks "my subs are 400watts (if they know it's max i leave in the middle), i have 2 of them so I'm putting out 800watts of music" not considdering what the amp power is rated at.

wtf?!
You're looking at a very nice set of JBLs and you're putting them in the same system as that crappy amp?
wtf?!
btw - can you tell me (if there are any) what the fuses on the side of the amp say?

WTF!?!?!
so you can't afford a nice amp but you're willing to spend it on nice speakers?
and if you're going to just run those components on a head unit, you need to be shot.
It really sounds to me like you need to learn a bit about car audio and the importance of a good amplifier. You can have all of the best speakers in the world, but with a ****ty amp, you will have **** for sound.
Sorry, it's just the way it is.
