sub and Amp help needed!
hello there,
i was wondering if any can help me with that.
i have a 2001 honda civic, and im planning on installing a reasonable system to the car, so far i only got the DVD player and a 7" LCD screen also got the wires for the sub and speakers. so i was wondering if u can help me picking the remaining components, which are the sub, amplifier and speakers. what to choose and some details, for example, how many channels amp, i know u might wonder how many subs i have to be able to choose an amplifier, but it doesnt matter for me, i'd rather go for one sub and 2 speakers. but please give me some suggestions. also if u can refer me to a link where i can find comlete installation help and some pics if available
thanks alot for the help

it's all up to you, basicly i guess the saying for the most part is "good **** aint cheap and cheap **** aint good" [but a deal is something completly different]
if you replace your speakers all around (dash, doors, rear deck) and amp them w/ a multi channel amp, and put a sub in for the lows, you'll get a much nicer sound then your stock honda system
you have a LOT of options ... you could run a multi channel amp for your speakers and a mono amp for your subs, or if you dont have a lot of speakers run everything off one mono channel amp ... as scott said .. look around ..

we need a budget for the amp and the type of car. my car needs a more powerful amp because i have a loud engine/exhuast and a vert. if you were in a honda civic hatchback you could get by with half as much power.
show off your rides:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show-off-your-project/
and this may help you out as far as picking components as well:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1305774
it's from the corvette forum and it's a thread with what each person runs in there car. also gives you approx. budgets and what not. if you want to ask them a question you can sign up and pm them or let me know and i'll relay the message.

Whats a reasonable amount of $_$ are you willing to spend on the setup with a 4 channel amp for speakers, a monoblock/2channel amp for subs, size and # of subs, size of front and rear speakers. Then we all can come up with something for u.

Well depending on how much money you wanna spend determines wut kind of sound your gonna get outta your system. i have right now Infinity Kappa 63.7i's in the front doors and MB Quart Midrange subs w/ Tweeters in the rear deck and im powering them with an Infinity Reference 7541A 4-Channel amp, and it sounds amazing, extremely loud and clear, great bass. but then again here cmes the money, i put in a little over $1000 for that including professional installation. then after that another $250 for my stereo/head unit. so if your willing to spend some money you'll be happy with your results, and trust me going cheap isnt the way to go, iv tried it, clarion phaze speakers for the front doors, real clear, crappy *** bass response, lol. and i dont know about your car, but i have a 1994 Lexus ES300 with a loud intake and exhaust system and i can still hear the music loud and clear. hope this helps.

And now for the subs in the back, im going to be getting either 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Power Subs or 2 12" MTX Thunder 9500 subs with 2 Infinity Reference 1211A mono sub amps (one amp for each sub). and then of course ill need a capacitor for both of those amps. but after that my system is complete and its gonna be insane !! but jus for your info, all this equip. is going to be about $1500 w/o the installation fees, so i'll be savin up for a little while before i get them, lol. but it will all be worth it. in my opinion though, no matter what setup you decide to get, choose infinity amps, they are in my opinion some of the best amps out there.

as red gti vr6 so nicely pointed out on the thread i started about caps ... start with the "Big Three" [link above] use the money you would have spent on a cap for this ...

hi people,
well the good news is i got a Rockford Fosgate Punch 12" Car Subwoofer for 89$ CAD, but still cant find a 4 channel amp for a good price. its about 500$. although last week the MTX 4-channel was 349$. anyways, for the amplifier ive got 2 options...
1) MTX 4-channels 499$ (400 RMS)
2) Rockford Fosgate 4-channels 349$ (400 RMS)
but the only difference is that the Rockford amp is last years edition, not the new black ones, u know its those ones with the silver cover.
i heard both of them in store and couldnt tell the difference, but i dont know which is better (quality, lasts longer ....). so thats it, gotta get that amp so i can start the project. i dont have to worry about the door speakers, im not gonna change them now. ill stick with originals.

well rockford fosgate is a pretty decent brand, but so is MTX so it just depends on which one you like more, looks wise, since you said the quality was the same.
