Cool 2004 Nissan Sentra Aux In Problem

I recently purchased a used 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8S. It has the stock single CD unit with FM radio. It features an aux in jack on the front of the unit, a 3.5mm input jack for use with mp3 players, etc.

My problem is, it doesn't seem to work. The manual for this car is no help, it only says "to listen to an aux audio device, plug it in and press the CD-C button." Well, I do that. "AUX" shows on the display, but I hear nothing. My mp3 player volume is cranked and I cranked the volume on the stereo. Nothing but silence. Is there something that needs to be "configured" on this radio, or did I get stuck with a faulty input jack?

Just wondering what my options are. Is there a simple fix or do I need a new radio?

HELP is appreciated.

I ditched the radio a long time ago and I don't think I ever used the aux in. There's no button that says Aux?

No, there isn't, but there's a "CD-C" button. According to the manual, this is the button that puts the radio into AUX mode. And it does, "AUX" shows on the display, but I hear nothing when my mp3 player is connected to the aux-in jack.

Nope.

I realize the CD-C button most likely stands for "cd changer," but I'm just going by what the User's Manual says. It says to use the input jack on the front of the unit, press the CD-C button to go into AUX mode.

Can you post a closeup picture of the radio?

What if you press CD-C more than once? Maybe it cycles through all the Aux?

Yep, tried that. It doesn't have any effect, dosn't cycle through other Aux modes.

I will post a closeup pic of my radio in a few mins...

And I'm guessing your MP3 player works with headphones?

Yep, it works fine. I've also tried plugging in a walkman to it, which also works. Same results. Dead air, no sound.

Yank the radio. In front of the cupholders, there's a trim panel that covers up that pocket. Pull from the rear of the console on either side and it pops off. Then open the dash storage bin and pull on it towards the rear of the car. Push the rear of the hazard switch and it'll pop out so you can unplug it. Then there's two screws at the top where the pocket was and two down bottom where that trim piece was. Make sure that there's only two plugs and the antenna plugged into the radio. If there's more plugs, take pictures and post again. There may be wiring for a sat receiver or CD changer plugged in.

The ABC button controls three different channels. So in a way, you have three possible auxilury inputs, one from front, and two (CD changer and Sat) from input in the back. Push the CD-C button and then try ABC button to see which channel works.

Nope, you wrong! the ABC is to switch be tween the 3 diferent preset radio stations (so he can presect 18 diferent radio statons divide in 3 groups) and if have nothing t do with the aux-in.

Also you may have the 8 pin iso connector on the back (present on some ver of the 2003)

Thanatos.

I will attempt this tonight after work and post my findings. I appreciate your help!

And yes, I did try the ABC button and as thenatos106 pointed out, that is strictly for radio presents. If I'm in AUX mode and I press the ABC button, the radio comes back on and switches to present bank #2.
