Changing Stock Radio`

I Just bought a head unit for my 2004 Chevy Silverado, and i want to install it in place of my stock one. One of my "gunny's" warned me that if I take out my stock radio unit, that my truck wont work because of a security program chevy decided to bless my truck with. Does anyone have any info for me so I can start working on it? or maybe a website with some "how to" info on it. I'd appreciate any help that is offered.

Since your questions is strictly related to Car Audio, might I suggest that you find a dedicated car audio forum to post your question on.

It's not that you won't find your answer here, it's that you are more likely to find it and more likely to find it quicker on a dedicated car audio forum.
