For all you SPL ppl, heres the episode description

Episode 58: Shattering Subwoofer/Rough Road Driving
The guys find out if the bass from a car stereo can destroy an automobile. They rip out the interior of a car, build a giant subwoofer to fill it, and then power it by attaching it directly to the drive shaft. Wear your ear plugs for this one!

I had a friend that had a S10 with 12 12s in it. He had to retire the truck from competition after he broke his a-pillars off of his roof for the FOURTH time.

Extreme SPL can mess your car up really badly.

I agree. They need to do a revisit show on this. 161db @ 16hz is impressive but doesn't prove it busted, IMO.

Could you imagine if they would have gotten it up to 20 or 25 hz? That would have been super loud!

But keep in mind everyone saying their conclusion was crap, the myth was that it could TOTALLY destroy a car, not just break parts of the car. They were talking about having the car explode.

Oh, and the show is for entertainment purposes only, so it doesnt necessarily have to be correct all the time. They never really follow proper expirament procedures.
