Question I Want To Set Up Some Subs And I Need To Know EVERYTHING!

So, I wanna put 1 or maybe 2 subs in my 1994 BMW 325i, most likely they would 10" or 12", but I don't know anything about it. I don't know if this helps, but right now the only modification to the original stereo is the addition of a JVC 12-Disc changer installed in the trunk. The bass right now is really weak and basically is a must to be upgraded, but I think that the stuff I will buy will be from places like pawn shops and stuff, but not crappy material things. What I'm really on here for though, is to find out everything I need, yes EVERYTHING from speaker wires-to-enclosures-to-amps... I would also like some help with how/what would need to be hooked up to what (and I do know that the connections depend on the size, ohms, and all that crap, but still.). Anyone who can chip in a little information, THANK YOU in advance. Seriously, any bit of info will help.

This is one reason I am starting to hate this board.... Give the guy a break he is a rookie. Just tell him to post in the newb forum not "go annoy someone else". I hold off on a lot of my questions just because I dont want some of the arrogant people on here to flame me and I am sure i will get flammed for this post.

Will everyone chill out on the noobs.... we were all noobs at one time and we needed guidance. Just point the person in the right direction or keep your flaming to yourself. Damn there are some ****ed off people on this board.

Do not consider this reply as a flame. Think of it as a reasonable response to your rant:

When a new guy asks to teach him everything...

... and he admits to knowing absolutely nothing, that's definitely asking for trouble.

This website has a board with a very specific theme -- to put computers inside cars (and boats). Any other question, unless asked around the CarPC matter, are rendered useless and unnecessary in regards to this forum. Especially when they were written in that manner.

Another thing: you don't go attempting to solve trigonometric problems without knowing basic algebra. The Disc Changer comment leads to the fact that the guy indeed knows nothing about car stereos. The OP needs to start with the basics, which are readily available on the12volt.com. Thank compnut21 for pointing that out.

My word of advice is, in order to save the OP from doing a search with keywords that he doesn't yet understand, I'd suggest him to go to a BestBuy or Circuit City near him and talk to the car audio guys. Check out the showroom. Ask what each component in the system does (what's an amp, a subwoofer, a proper enclouse, the wires he needs, etc.) Then he can come back to the internet and search for specific questions.

Posting questions on public forums that refer to readily available knowledge is so useless you might as well ask how to erase spelling mistakes in Word with a WiteOut.

---

You have the right to hate, but please do not promote stupidity and redundant questions.
