Noob! PLease help

Ok guys for the past 2 weeks ive been trying to install an amp in my car to get a little more for my money so to speek. This is what im working with

Head Unit: JVC KD G210 - radio / CD
Speaker(s):2 Pioneer 6x8 Car Speakers TS-A6870R in teh back and 2 Pioneer 6.5" Speaker TS-G670M in the front
AMP #1: Kenwood Kac-7201 800watt
Amp #2: Crunch p2250 500watt

Car: 1999 Ford Mustang Convertable

Ive read do it yourself guides all over the web but just cant seem to get and audio out putt at all. My over all goal it to hook one amp up to my car speakers and one of to my 12"sub i have. This is my idea of how to install the amp.

Steps:
(1)Run power wire from battery to amp
(2) run rem wire from head unit to Amp
(3) Then run our rca cable form head unit to amp(same side as rem but opposite of power wire.)
(4) Next run speaker wire from am to 12 or car door speakers (depending on witch i was going for)
(5) I double checked to make sure my grounds on battery and the amp where both secure

What am i doing wrong?

Problem:

The amp has power and my light comes on and fan is running but there is no sound output. PLease help me out guys im just a noobie when it comes to this... Even if i have to rewire my entire car lol ill do just let me know whats worng... thanks guys

has to be something with RCA's at the headunit or at the amp, your amp input is gone or your HU out put.

make sure u have the rca on your head unit plug in to the front, rear, or sub and not the input

also make sure your HU doesnt have a sub on and off, if so turn it on

What about the step where you run a ground wire from the amp to the nearest point on the chassis?
Remember to have the ground wire the same gauge as (or larger than) the positive wire.

Check if the 'Protection' light is on.
If so, there could be a short in the wire that's going to your speaker/subwoofer.

No the protection light is not on. The amp powers up fine when car is started. and yes ive grounded the amp to the car. How do i check to see if my head unit out put is bad or if my amp input is bad?

You can use a digital multi-meter to check. Set it to AC and put one probe on the pin of the RCA and the other on the cuff. Your head unit has a max of 2.2 volts of out put so look for something less than that. Looking at the price point of that head unit, I don't believe that switching the preouts off and on is an option.

Most likely, its something simple. Take your time and double check everything.

You could also check the opposite way and get something like a cd player, mp3 player, TV, whatever, and plug it into your amp. (Low level output of course!) Then if you hear music, the problem lies between the HU and where you plugged in the spare device(HU, cabling), and if no music, then it lies from where you plugged in your TV to your spekaers (plugs, amp, speakers, cabling)
