Truck box for a 94 Chevy

Has anyone ever made a custom truck box for an extended cab truck?

I am having one heck of a time navigating through the nooks and crannies underneath the back seat. Not to mention how would I have the woofer faced? Pointed down under the seat, recessed a little from the ground. Or would it best be faced toward the driver seat.

I have seen the plastic ones that they sell in "customs shops", I'm trying to think outside the box.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I just built boxes for under the rear seat of my '98. They are actually fairly easy. I pointed the woofers (JL 10w3 v2) up under the seat. I am hoping to have pics up in the worklogs this week, assuming I get a chance to take pictures.

What I did was cut a piece of MDF to cover the flat part of the floor on either side of the tunnel, and build up from there. I will tell you I couldn't get anything bigger than a 10 in there, and not any deeper than 6" or so.

See I made a full box out of 1/4" plywood, and it looked ok, and would also fit a 12" but I heard that it would not be structurally sound enough to produce good bass, so now I am working with 3/4" MDF and am dreading having it not fit.

Bottom line is that I am hoping someone out there knows something that I do not know.

549.00 for a 10" custom box doesnt cut it either.

Disclaimer: My carpet is nasty (half the reason it's out) and the subs are old... (Click pics for full size.)

Here are the boxes sitting on the carpet in my garage. These end up flush with the front of the seat (more or less)

Driver's side enclosure. You can see how tight the sub is squeezed in. There is about 2" more to go between the box and the tunnel, but I wanted the boxes to be sized exactly the same (The tunnel is off center).

This is the bottom side of the same enclosure. You can see where I found room. I only carpeted the front, top, and sides of these because they will be bloted in from under the truck, and the backside will not be visible. The big hole is for a binding post plate.

If you can live with a couple of inches of box hanging out from the seat, you could probably do a 12. These boxes have a net volume of about .8 cubes, so keep small volume 12s in mind.
