Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty
I am looking at the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty. Here. It requires a Palm OS device to operate it which sucks because I don't have one, and I wouldn't want to spend the money for it just to run the thing. I am wondering if there is anything out there like this or better that doesn't require a Palm device to operate.

First of all, quit crossposting. One post is plenty.
Your other post was removed.
Second, there are PalmOS emulators for the PC out there, however, I don't know if they would be able to access bluetooth connections or not. It might be worth a try, but I don't think it would work.
I think you're better off investing in a bluetooth-enabled Palm.
Realistically, though... If this device is bluethooth-enabled, you should be able to connect to it from a PC or some other bluetooth device once you figure out the communication protocol between the Paml device and the 3Sixty.2.
Good luck.

there are products coming out on the market that are very similar. I'd expect to see quite a few more this next year. I believe JBL is working on one as well.
I'm not sure on the bluetooth deal though. Might be worth contacting Fosgate and seeing what they have to say.

Sorry about the cross post. Any idea where I could find out about that protocol? It seems obvious that any computer with bluetooth would work, but I guess the firmware in the 3Sixty is written for Palm.

Firmware really isn't the problem. I'm guessing Rockford only has software written for the palm. So unless you want to reverse-engineer for the PC, or figure out a way to get a bluetooth enabled PC to run a Palm emulator, just get a BT enabled palm.

thats an extra $500 I don't have. there is a Palm emulator but you need to have the ROM image already because it's a developers tool. i can't seem to find anywhere that has the ROM for download. any ideas?

I think you can find the rom image on the dev website. I was trying to do the same thing with a 3sixty for a friend but like darquepervert said, i was never able to get the bluetooth in the emulator to communicate with other devices.

You are right. The ROM can be gotten from the developer site, just register which is free. Now, does anybody know how to get the Bluetooth working? I 've never even used a Palm.

That thing looks pretty cool. At first, the price looks high compared to other companies, but it has a lot of features others don't, like a 31 band EQ. And one of the main reasons I would get one is to have a complete and compact solution. I don't understand why the didn't just make it compatable with XP since more people have laptops that hand helds...

isn't Palm easier to code for than windows? I thought I had heard that somewhere at least.

-->Andy: It is pretty sweet. It has seperate EQ for each channel and a 31 band EQ for the AUX input plus 100 other things. As far as using Palm instead of XP, I have no idea.
-->Red: Palm probably is easier to code for because it's not so "involved", but the software to run the 3Sixty is included. What would need to be done is use the Palm emulator on XP, get bluetooth working in it, and then load the 3Sixty software. The ultimate would be to integrate it into a frontend, but you would probably end up having to write custom software on XP to do that. I don't know if it would be practical to integrate a Palm emulator into an XP frontend.

RF said something about wherever you bought the 360(authorized dealer) they have to set it for you at no cost. But id say get urself a little cheapo palm(around $100 US dollars)device with BT and do it urself. I dont know if you know Steve Meade, but thats what he did.
to RF didnt make a program for Windows Moible/pocket pc
