Invert Phase by Reversing +/- Terminals?

Hey, I understand the concept of just simply reversing the terminal connections to invert the phase on my sub, but if I was wiring it as such:

I would still ultimatly just plug the + into my amps - and vice versa, right? Or do I need to reverse that wiring diagram as well? Thanks.

if you reversed it on the voice coil connections it would cancel it out, you would be using the - cable on all + terminals so it would be the same as wiring it up normally. just change it at the amp end.

You do realize what reversing the phase will do to your sub right?

Well..if the sub is designed to compress the air in a certain way (Ie, compress the air in a sealed box), then having the sub reverse phase could potentially nix part of its usefulness, because it won't be compressing the air correctly.

but if you do everything properly then running reversed isnt going to cause any problems.

It can still cause problems...It'll push air when it's supposed to be pulling and vice versa, so when there's a bass hit, it can sound hollow or off beat.

If the ***-end of the speaker is outside the box, then I have to invert the phase, which is exactly what I'm doing.

Why does everybody second guess the guy without asking what he's doing?

Thank you.

And thanks for the simple help above, I just couldn't get it past my mind that it'd be that easy to just swap the terminals with this setup. Needed some backup before I went shoving wires into things. Haha, I'll have pics on the setup probably later tonite, I spent the entire weekend on this beast.

Nobody was 2nd guessing...I just wanted to make sure he knew what happens when phase is switched.
