Can a Ford 4500 cd player be replaced?

hi

I just got a 54 Fiesta and it has a 4500 cd player in it. It looks like is is divided into 3 different bits by two bars going across it but from some pictures I've seen it's all the one unit.

anyway, I want to get rid of this cd player and put my own standard size one in but I can't see how it can be done because the panel joins onto everything, it's not seperate like the last car I had.

does anybody know anyhting about this?

thanks
Jacqueline

it will have to be most likely a custom dashkit created and wiring..... but pics would be helpful, most older cars are oddly set up and require cutting since they used to use two shaft radios... again...pics would help

here's a picture of what's in my car just now. sorry it's a bit dark but you can see the two bars going across it.

I know someone that took a hacksaw to theirs but that seems a bit drastic to me. i'd rather just replace the panel if that's possible.

any advice?

You will need an autoleads adapter.

I assume you are from the UK? If so halfords will do them.. Without seeing the rest of the dash its hard to tell how it will fit, get some daytime photos and i'll be able to say..

that's a pretty advanced radio for a 54 fiesta..... if you want to fit a standard sized radio in there it will have to be fully custom...
