AUX IN Altenator Noise

I have an Eclipse CD5423 HU with mini-jack AUX IN. I wired that straight to my headphone output on my laptop. However, I get an annoying alternator hum/noise in my music. I bought this from Crutchfield: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-JgyVrJf...er&i=127SNI135
but it barely made an improvement.

Regular music through a CD works fine, it is just through the AUX-IN plug. I am running an IBM ThinkPad X24 notebook connected to Carnetix P1900 DC-DC regulator.

Any suggestions?

Check your ground wire going to your head unit. Also, you might want to make sure your ground wires are of the correct gauge. If your H/U isn't grounded directly to the chasis of your vehicle, try grounding it straight to the body of your vehicle. grounding tips.

I used the grounding wire on the wiring harness, but I will try grounding to the same point as the P1900 (which is on the chasis).

Does it happen if you unplug the charger for the laptop?

Then my laptop turns off because I took the battery out. Laptop is powered by the AC plug. But when the computer is off, there is no noise.
