Question USB head unit?

Hi,

This question is related to playing MP3s through ICE but it's not a "home brew" solution. Hopefully someone can help me out though and hopefully I've posted this in the correct forum.

I want to get a head unit with USB on the front panel, with the idea that I can plug my Samsung YPZ5 MP3 player in to it, via USB of course, and play MP3s. The Samsung YPZ5 has been firmware upgraded so it now appears as a USB mass storage device. For example, I can now mount it under Linux and drag files on/off like a normal flash drive.

I assume most (if not all?) head untis with USB work in this way? As long as the device you're plugging in is a USB mass storage device and doesn't have some obscure file system, the head unit can read the device and play the MP3s?

Does anyone have any recommendations for such a head unit?

Many thanks in advance for any help and advice offered.

Moved to car audio, where it belongs.

You'd be better off checking at a forum devoted to car audio .

Good luck.

Go into a car audio store and try it on the demo decks.

Thanks for the replies. I'll post a carsound.com.

I did go to a car audio store, when I was passing one the other day but they didn't have a clue. When I went to try some of the display units, I couldn't plug my USB cable in because the security cabinet they'd put around them didn't give enough room... they didn't get a sale that day ;-)

Cheers!
