Remember the leads are colour coded and as long as you get it the right way round the USB may work. Another thing is making sure it is wired permamently live, and also are you sure your jump drives are FAT32? If it is not compatible it will never work. I've had no end of fun learning my setup, first problems were the format didn't take properly, installers wired it not directly so it wasn't hot always and would lose its position. Y USB lead died and I found out anything longer than an 18" USB would not power my external drive without secondary power, and finally got the new lead in this week from the manufacturer and will install it probably tomorrow lunchtime. Jump drives are handy too but you can't beat 500 cds on one drive!

Got it sorted out, it turned out my extension USB cable was no good

I do have a question though, information seems to show in the upper right-hand corner only with a 8-character display. I would have thought the information would be where the CD-TEXT normally shows with 2 lines of information? I have a Premier 980BT deck so it should be fully compatible?

Thanks for your help.

You might need to play around with the display settings as on mine it has about a million different variants of it. Mine is the 7900BT and it shows everything! Yours should be the same as the main difference between the two is a colour display and 0.5V more on the output.
Those USB cables can prove to be tricky on this port, but my desktop has issues with a longer USB to Mini on my 2.5" external on one of its ports!

I have the P980BT as well and I also can't get it to read the file and folder names with the CD-UB100. Has anyone been able to get this to work?

Still can't get more than 8 characters out of the 980BT using the USB adapter, pretty useless.

Unhappy

H there just joined up after finding this thread in google!

I bought one of these not so long ago aswell. Has anyone noticed the annoying gap between track switches (i listen to a lot of sets which are usually 80 minute mixes) when they are split into individual tracks, you get gaps in betwenn the chamges where as on a cd it changes over gapless.

Anyone got a solution for this?

Hey guys, never posted back regarding the new setup mainly because its still not working properly.

I can get it to work fine with a 2gb usb memory stick however when i plug in my 80gb usb mini hdd it works but again i cant switch tracks. Its almost as if the unit plays all tracks as one song for some reason. However with the 2gb memory stick it works completely fine!

I have formatted the HDD down from 80 to 60, 40,30,20,10, and even 2gb and it wont work how the 2gb usb memory stick works. Im out of ideas

again this is the Pioneer 6900-UB which is a unit MADE for the USB devices.

Power is not the issue, It is a Hitachi low amperage HDD 500mA and i have it hooked up to my laptop for extra power.

I just talked with Pioneer, they confirmed that the Iomagic Gigabank Ultra 80GB external HDD will work with the 6900UB and the UB100 adapter. They also noted that there is a customer currently using a Maxtor Magic OneTouch 160GB External HDD as well.

Can someone PLEASE tell me if this CD-UB100 will work with the DEX-P1R headunit. It's a very old model, but it was Pioneer's top-of-the-line back when.

Thanks.

Cons.
Interface is the worst thing I have ever seen
Can forward and for-forwards track at the same time you have 2 choices forward or for-forward
Characters OMG!! I canīt see shet! it only has a 8 characters
Did I mention the interface already?

Pros.

USB Connector Broke

Hi... I've had my CD-UB100 for about a year now. I've been pretty happy with the unit.

One day I unpluged the cable to load some more MP3s to my hard drive. And when I went back to my car. I kinda forced the USB plug and two pins bent back and the white pin holder on the connector, broke

I need to replace the connector on the board (I have no problems soldering).

But, i've been having a bit of difficulty trying to find a place (either locally (NYC) or on the internet.) that sells USB board connectors like the one on the CD-UB100.

If anyone knows where I can find the component, please let me know.

THanks
