Anyone using a TB Roadie and optical in/out for SAT?

Hey all,

Dunno if this is an audio forum question or RR question, as that is the front-end I use. I have my Turtle Beach Roadie connected to my amp via optical cable and the TB control panel utility is set to 48kHz out (44.1 works as well). MP3s play well, but my Sirius has no sound. I am using the SIR-ALP1 adapter and this worked fine on my other PC. I can't get it to work via optical out from the ALP1 into the Roadie or via analog 3.5mm line in. Anyone got it working for both and if so, how? Someone mentioned that changing the TB app to SPDIF In/Out works for SAT, but then MP3s don't work. I haven't gotten that working anyway. I would prefer not to have to switch anything, even if I have to use analog for SAT, as that sound quality isn't spectacular anyway.

Thanks for any info.

I don't think it's possible...I know this is a documented problem with the Roadie, which is why I plan to switch back to my Audigy 2NX as I complete my install.

BTW: I think you can get there (switch between digital input and sound from other sources) by going thru the Roadie software, but there's apparently a problem with doing so via RoadRunner or other front end software. Not sure about the particulars, tho.

Working

I just found out how to get the optical in and out to work at the same times with the Roadie using RoadRunner. I was fustrated that this option wasn't there when in fact it is. Fist in the rr config under xm/serrius, select use Line-In-Plug-in. Save the goto the turtle beach control panel, select mixer. Under record settings select SPDIF In. That should be it. Make sure that under speakers you have either s/pdif out 44.1khz or 48khz out. I hope this helps!

I had literally shelved my Car PC and given up on them in general, having determined it just isn't worth the hassle, and along comes your post. Thanks for the info - if this works, it may just make it worth giving it another go, as that was my last hurdle. Thanks again, I will give it a shot!

I'm happy I could. Let us know if it works out for you. It did for me. I was almost to the point in putting my sound card back in. I love the sound from my roadie.
