Elemental Design's Forum pricing ends Feb 1st
If anyone is on the fence about getting some ED gear, now is the time to do it. They have been giving amazing discounts for a while now (to icixsound.com and other forum members) but that is going to end on Feb 1st.
http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php?t=33252
just a heads up if anyone wants some great gear at great prices before it's over with.

I was wondering when that would happen. Makes any price other than what they were offering online not valid....can't imagine what it would have been like to try and be a dealer for them...constantly being undersold by the manufacturer you're trying to support....

This is a little of a thread jack.
@ scott fx and Red,
First a bit of background info. I haven't followed the car audio scene for a while and I was looking for amplifier advice. I am looking to do a full active setup. 1 4 channel amp for highs, 1 4 channel amp for mids and a sub amp (1 or 2 channel. I haven't decided if I am going to run 1 sub or 2). I am also following your thread about the advances in the sound car department and plan to update my soundcard when I finally get my install to a point where I am happy and it is reliable.
My question is, How good are ED amps as far as SQ goes? At the moment I am on a bit of a budget but I want a decent SQ setup. How do these amps compare to Soundstream,JL, Blaupunkt and othere well known SQ brands. Would I be better off with something else for around the same price. I am looking to spend about US $300 on each amp.
@Red if this is too much of a thread jack, let me know and I will start a new thread.

eh - the thread jack thing is up to Scott...if he wants it seperated that's up to him.
from what I've seen on the boards, ED is good stuff...
however, I haven't seen much of it in the higher levels of competition...not much at all. All depends on what you're going for. Good personal SQ? Go for it!

no problem, i thread jack enough. i've personally listened to a nine.1 running two idmax 12" subs and it hit hard. i haven't heard them in the frequencies that really matter but from what i read they are a great amp for the price. There is a guy over at the corvette forums that has installed a bunch of their components and swears by them (for the price). it'll probably be best to start a new thread though, if you want to discuss active components and all that fun stuff. i think red put it best... for good personal sq, i dont think you can go wrong...plus they are great looking amps to boot.

LIES!!!
j/k
We have dealers...but more of an on an install kinda basis, where they were making the money on the install rather than the product.
I liked the stuff enough to move 600 miles to work here, but I'm not going to claim to be some crazy SQ person, I just like my music to be all there and not sound bad.
Now...am I going to pretend we can compete with the DLS car from Japan that was at CES....hell no I'm not...that thing was insane. Sounded like it didn't even have speakers....was....perfect.

see, I know that the DLS car won all kinds of stuff as IASCA finals. Unfortunately I never had a chance to listen to it.
But, of the many many folks I did hear listen to it, it left a bit to be desired. Though the comment about it not having speakers was common.
I know that it's probably back in Thailand now...maybe they will bring another car over next year!

Ok...so maybe perfect was a bit far...it was very...umm...different?
Definitely like nothing I've ever heard before and very good...the transparancy of the speakers though was definitely amazing. That and the amount of work that went into it.

when they were at IASCA finals, there were like 7 of them cleaning, polishing, settting up. It was crazy to see that much work going on around the car at finals. I was deffinately happy to see them win as many awards as they did. No doubt that car had a LOT of work put into it.
