Hi all,

I read through all of the pages of the "XM Carputer Guide" thread... lots of great info, but didn't answer the question I have here:

In my car, I've got an OEM XM tuner module (made by Delphi). The OEM antenna which came installed on the car when I bought it (sharkfin style on the roof) has two connections coming from it (which I understand is the older style). According to the technical wiring diagram of my car, the two wires coming from the antenna are labeled "Satellite Antenna" and Satellite Tuner Antenna." Doesn't help much, but in any case, since I won't be able to use the OEM module with my CarPC I got an XM PCR. The PCR has the newer single input for the antenna. See where I'm going? I want to use the antenna that's already on top of my car, but it has two outputs, and the PCR only has one input.

So I do some searching around the net, and I found this:

and I thought I had found my solution. Unfortunately, this converter is going the opposite direction that I need it to go (i.e. this converts an antenna with a single cable into two outputs to connect to older modules, such as the one I have in my car). Unfortunately I need it to go the other way.

All that long-winded explanation for the simple question: does anyone know of a converter like the above that converts two antenna cables to one antenna input? Also, I can't imagine that this would just be as simple as just using only one of the wires coming from my OEM antenna, but check me if I'm wrong there.

I found this on an XM site.

Measuring only 3/4" long, this handy little adapter will plug directly into the side of your XM2GO Delphi MyFi, Pioneer Airware, or Tao radio.

Whether your existing XM Antenna has a single pink connector, dual yellow/green connectors (use yellow lead only), or any other XM Radio antenna connector, it will plug directly into the side of your XM2go with this adapter.

I found it here, maybe you can try just the 1 wire thing.

This may work also.

On your 2nd link, I also read this:

"When deciding whether to use the green or yellow antenna lead from your older, two-lead style XM Satellite Radio antenna, try both, and use the one that gives you better performance. If the "antenna" message should appear on your Roady's display, use the other colored lead instead."

Looks like I should be able to work it with just one. I'll let you know how it works out!

i recently did an install on a 2006 passat 2.0t and used the factory sat. antenna with the pioneer sat i put in....guess what...the factory ant. in that car is the new style 1 wire and oddly enough it works with xm or sirius. im not 100 percent sure what the second wire was for but i suspect factory gps antenna.hope this helps. btw on his i snaked the wires through the little passthrough behind the passenger side rear seat and installed the tuner in the passenger side rear seat bolster and it fit in there pretty well. have fun... i really like the new passats

Hey 95rodeo! We need to talk! You're the first person on here I've seen who has done an install on a 2006 Passat! That's great news on the XM deal. And actually the GPS antenna is integrated into the rear window and runs straight up to the headunit.

So did you replace the headunit too? Did the car have the Dynaudio amp, or the standard setup?

sorry about not responding i forgot about this thread but it was dynaudio which just uses the regular speaker level wireing into the amp...one of the eaisiest amp intergrations ive done http://www.mywristwatches.com/passat.html
