well, really I didn't hack anything up other than totally dissasembling it & packing all the boards away individually, really now that you mention it I think it could go back togeather & be 100% what it was. the only thing I wasn't anal with neatly packing away was the external case, the rear frame. I didn't throw it out, probably in my storage room. I don't think I cut that in any way yet either.
I'd recommend you going with it all seperated anyway, take much less space & allow control up front or in a convienient location, or at least a good looking location. don't know if your into that much hacking though, but a few custom stainless steel cases for the seperated components should be easy to integrate into even a smaller car like yours, this thing is super easy to extend stuff away from eachother
I dunno if I really want to sell it, this thing is awesome & I do want to build a pc system with it eventually, unless I went out & got the NEW one, but there like $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ guess I'll look at them again
let me kick it around in my head a bit, never really even thought about selling it, I guess your friend got rid of theres?
honestly, even if I don't sell mine, this is the way to go with your car I'd say... the 900 is a nice piece for sure but this is nicer for an all out car, & the pc integration is really sweet, this is really going to be as good as having all tuning on the pc as far as control wise, but with the benifit of it being all with it's own computer in a sense, think of it as it's own stand alone audio server that's just for all audio processing, but networked & controlled from the main pc, which it really is, just not running a whole operating system

My main reason for holding off on the DBX is that the STEG K series amps don't like the balanced inputs. I believe the solution would be to create new RCAs that are wired as un-balanced, but I'm not 100% it would be the solution needed.
I might be able to mount some of the components on the other side of the car (where the computer is but on the other side), just depends on how I can mount it all since that's also where a good deal of distro and other stuff is located. I have a slight bit of room where the 701 brain is right now, but that would only hold part of the DBX.
I think my buddy might have already sold his...just depends.

from what I understand the balanced outputs are the same as a regular rca when you ground the 3rd pin. I never measured the output voltage but the output board should be close to the amps anyway.
the main board of this thing is the only thing that's large, but it's really thin, whole enclosure would be like .75" thick or so... it can fit overhead inside the headliner totally hidden with wires running down the side pillars, which is how I woulda installed in the caddy & how I'd consider it for another install too.

yeah - it SHOULD be the same, but since the STEG amps are so over engineered, one of the guys on our team running these amps and the DBX last year ran into problems. Of course, if the had actually finished the install before finals they probably would have solved the issue, but they didn't...so I'm not 100% if it will work or not.
Overhead would work in a lot of cars out there, unfortunately, in ours it wouldn't since we have a sun roof and it takes up the vast majority of the roof.
I'll see if my friend still has his and if I can take it apart and size it all.

I have pictures of each & every part layed out next to a ruler for my own reference, if I didn't post them in this thread I can find them if that helps.
