Removing Stock CD player, Installing Aftermarket

I recently bought a Toshiba Gigabeat MES60 and wanted to use Scorcese's Bluetooth Car Kit to play my tracks on my mp3 player in my car. However for the Scorcese to work, my cd player needed a AUX port and my car cd player doesn't have one so, if I purchase and install an aftermarket CD player with AUX ports, what will happen to my computer system. As in when my tire pressure gets low, or oil needs a change, my computer senses it and I can reset with my stock CD player. Obviously I won't be able to reset with the new aftermarket cd player, but will it mess up my car computer? I have a 2000 Chevrolet Impala LS.

Eh, here I go again... but this site is all about putting desktop computers in our cars, and this subforum is usually for things directly related to that... so we may not be the best at answering this question, you may want to try a dedicated car audio forum, there is a nice listing in the stickies in the FAQ section I believe... but now with that said...

Does the tire pressure warnings and everything come up on the screen of the stereo? or do you just need it to reset it. Cause if you just need it to reset it, in the even that you have to reset it, you can probably just replug the stereo in... Now if you need it for the car computer, you can always relocate the stock stereo to your trunk, or (if its big enough) your glove box...

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but I figured I'd give you a heads up that you may not be getting many replies here...

Also, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS feel free to look around, who knows you may get inspired to go ahead and get addicted to our nice little hobby of modifying computers to be seamlisly integrated into our cars.

-Dennis

Yeah, the actual message comes up near my guages, I only use the car cd player to reset the message. So I could technically hook up the stock cd player in my trunk to just control the resetting of messages?

I would recommend getting AUX adapter for your stereo. This way you can leave stock stereo intact.
There are many models available on the market.

you can reset you oil life meter (Light) by using the gas pedal when the car is not cracked.
