mk4 stupid amp question...
Hi all!
I'd really appreciate any input on this. I know it's a stupid question, yet I don't know where to find the information.
I've connected my amp in the trunk, I've done most of the cabling too, I just need to connect the remote turn on for the amp, but where?! Can someone tell me where I should connect this???
Thanks!

IGN switch, or remote-out if you're using an aftermarket deck

I'm going with no HU. Where would you find the ignition switch?

theres one going into the stock wiring harness for your stock Head Unit. Usually colored Red, just tap into that and run it to the amp

Thanks mate! Any way to be sure this is the one? There's nothing written on there, thought maybe someone'd have a link to a manual for the stock radio or something?

Hi thoro, You have to test it. get a test light ($1.99) and ground the aligator clip and probe the wire you believe is it. If the light does not light w/ the ignition off, but does light with the ignition on, thats an ignition line.

And an ignition wire would be just fine for the amp?

For the remote turn-on? Sure. All the amp is looking for is a signal of electricity to tell it when to turn on. Like an electrical on/off switch, so it doesn't stay on when you aren't using it. The reason you use a wire that is hot only when the ignition is on is so the amp only turns on when the ignition is turned on and off when the ignition is turned off. Aftermarket radios have amp turn on wires that become hot only when the radio is on, so the amp is turned on with the radio, etc. In your case you just want to make sure your amp turns on off appropriately. Ignition on and off fits just fine.

Thank you all! I've connected it to the Grey wire in the radio harness, it works just fine! I've hooked up all the speakers too, it sounds kind of crappy... Don't know if it's due to my bad quality wire coming from a PDA (for testing), but it works!
It wouldn't be a problem that I hook the speakers up to the old radio plug now would it?
