Status of CFE

I have been working on it, though I think i'm going to rip out most of my changes as they are not working as i'd like and i've been dragging my feet on getting them working.

CFE will be on a hiatus for awhile though for me as after 13.5 years AOL has finally decided to include me in a layoff. So starting tomorrow, finding a new job will obviously be the most important thing on my agenda. I'll still try to check in at least once a day or so and will work on CFE when I can, just no promises for awhile.

I disagree. I have seen AOL from it's peak to it's current low and have a lot of respect for many of the people that have walked through it's doors. The real problem was/is Time Warner. I believe Steve had a brilliant idea in purchasing them and we should have met his vision of creating (or at least taking it to levels not yet seen) a new medium for content integration and delivery. Unfortunately he did not bargain for how backwards and non-visionary TW's execs were and was no where near savvy enough to compete with them.

For the most part the company has been good to me for well over a decade (and almost half my life ), but for a long time i've been unhappy with where the company was going and it's lack of any clue how to fix itself. I do not regret my time there, but it's long since time that I move on and find new challenges.

And I feel sorry for many of the people I now leave behind as things always go further downhill after the layoffs

I know it all sounds sappy but that's how I feel about it all

Now to find a Mac programming job with no real experience

Good luck finding a new job! I'm hope employers won't only look for a degree in Mac development

At the moment I didn't really have the time for the buttons anyway

...PM me if you know much about web programming (HTML, PHP, CSS, JS, etc.). I work at a web development company that is looking for a reliable contractor.

Wow, sorry to hear about work! That sucks... I'm graduating soon so applying to jobs has sucked up more time than I expected. Good luck!

I'm open to it for the right job/price.

Technically i'm a Sr Systems Programmer, but I call my self an Operational Tools Developer. I'm spent 10+ of my almost 14 years at AOL working in Operations teams writing tools to improve the day to day work flow of the Sys Admins and Analysts. It ranges anywhere from automating simple tasks to integrating 3rd party products to building large scale applications.

Anyone that is interested can see the nitty-gritty stuff at http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamgnat

Thanks,
-dave

Well as of an hour ago or so, i've verbally accepted an offer. It's local, so no moving to mess with and the best part is that it is a Mac job so it will be all Mac all the time for me

So now I can focus on CFE for a bit while I wait to start the new job. I'll try to knock out as much as I can since my free time will go down with the new job (longer commute, getting started, etc..) for awhile.

Thanks again for everyones thoughts and offers to help.

Thanks guys. It actually looks like my start date could come as early as next week

I want to get back to work, but it would have been nice to enjoy some time (starting tomorrow it's my mother-in-law ) without the "oh god I need a job!!!" feeling

Oh well.

I just finished fixing the bugs in the new button code that have been driving me up the wall so should have screen shots of them in AMP pretty soon. Hopefully then I can knock out checkboxes and drop downs before I start the new job. Then we can have config screeens
