video in carfrontend?

Hello!!! I have a macbook right now and will be doing a mac mini in the future in my Ford Focus. Right now i am looking at front ends and such for it.

carfrontend is NICE. I just downloaded it. Mine is working nicely. sleek looking.

all I wanted to know is if there will be any future support for video in the album art area, instead of showing the still only. THAT would be great to have.

I know it's slow around here with the development, but I just wanted to ask......

That album art is taken from iTunes and as far as I know you can't put a video in there (possibly an animated GIF, but i've never tried so I have no idea what would happen).

As far as making that area video aware, that won't happen. What I am guessing you are really looking for is a media player that will play any type of videos and possibly DVDs. I personally will not develop such a feature as i'm against video in car (kids need to learn how to sit quietly and behave and your eyes should be on the road! ), but that is something that is feasible with a plugin if someone else wanted to build it (should be pretty straight forward too). I'll be glad to assist anyone that wants to tackle it.

Do you have any kids? I am not sure whether mine are so special, but running Ice Age or Shrek is exactly what I need to do to get them to sit quietly and behave :-D But I agree they have to have their own screen(s) for that.

Nope no kids.

Back in my day, the back of my dad's hand was the answer to "are we there yet?" (j/k, but my parents did make do things like go out side, read, etc... so that I knew there was more to life than TV)

But we didn't have seatbelt laws and mandatory child safety seats. If I had been strapped into one of those I would have gone nuts! ADD and Child safety seats DO NOT go well together!

TV would make it tolerable.
