Destinator

Hi,
I'm sorry to say Centrafuse is not my cup of tea but.. It is the only frontend that actually has up-to-date destinator included.
Why no develop a standalone Destinator frontend and sell is at a smaller price? I'm sure it would sell allot.
Just my two cents..

/Me.

why not just get a Standard GPS device for that then? a PC can do much much more ,thats whats happens here, we extend the possibilites and functionalty of a computer into a in-car entertainment machine not just a GPS nav system. personal, the GPS came last in my setup

When I had said Centrafuse is not my cup of tea I meant that I don't use it because I don't like it.
I use another frontend wich lacks destinator support and therefore was my above question.

So what do you say?

I would have thought that way better media storage and flexibility, and GPS where the strongest reasons to bother building a CarPC! Thats why I built mine

Factor the costs (3 years ago) for the following:

GPS Unit - £150-£500
Speed Cam detector - £50-£400
MP3 Multichanger - £100-£300
Phone Hands free - £50-£300
Wireless Internet - ?
OBD Monitoring - £300+ for my car

Add all that up and it costs a fair bit more than a CarPC (if you are prepared to build & setup your own).

That, and the pimpness of having something next to no-one else has THAT I MADE MYSELF

Centrafuse just makes all this more accessible to non-techy people who may not be that great at configuring and tweaking programs like RR.
It also makes life easier for re-sellers and CarPC system builders as setup and config is way easier than other frontends out there and it has proven to be quite stable and reliable.

Destinator isn't perfect, but its all we have in EU at the moment! All that could change though when PC Navigator 7 comes out from Directions Ltd. Or if TomTom ever pull their thumbs out of their asses and do a PC version!

All that is IMHO obviously

Because of the huge amount of cash they want for the SDK!

I think what Pisha is saying is why does David not release a mega cut down version of CF with just the naviagor / speed cam option so it can be embeded in to another app.... a bit like Freedrive is a way.

This increases his number of users who want to keep say RR as their FE but want a newer better GPS app.

Doing this I think the license would not be in default so its a win win situation for all around.... and I for one would be willing to part cash in that case.

Although CF is ok and does the job I love RR as an app.
