Promo Code
Hi, is there still going to be a prome code, or do we have to buy it within 30 days after installation?
And is there going to be some sort of discount for the poeple who have been using centrafuse for a longer time on this forum?
I havn't installed the 1.2 yet becaus of this. My pc is running great now with centrafuse.
And last question (you probebly have heard it alot already...), Can we now buy centrafuse XLE without the maps?

I would like to think there is going to be a promo discount for established testers.
I for one have been onboard since the first release And spent God knows how many hours testing and reporting.
Maybe there should be a stepped discount scale depending on the amount of input peeps have had Might be difficult to implement though.

That would be very difficult. I have been lurking here for a long time (mostly without an account) and have tested many versions and only now have a fully working carputer. I havent made many posts (read: nearly none) but I have been active in playing with the software for quite some time (originally played with it in my last car which I had for 18 months, so about a couple of years). I feel it is now very solid, much more so than when I first started to play with it. I think that all who are on this board should get some kind of promotional discount, but agree that the more devoted testers should get something for being more active. Would be upto David to work out who he thought were the most helpful in development and award them some kind of extra discount. Could get a few peoples backs up though if they thought they had an input but didnt get any extra discount.

You may have been 'actively playing' for a while, but David gets no benefit from people who just play and tinker. He needs feedback on what works and what doesn't!
IMO you shouldn't qualify as a beta tester just because you DL the trial, and sign up on these forums.
Beta testing is about sharing your experience and providing the vendor with feedback!
Why should you get it any cheaper than anyone else on the High St. when technically, you've done little testing and posted no comments/feedback back to Fluxmedia
Especially considering that there are a sizeable number of us who have been actively testing since day 1, over 3 years ago.
Maybe limit discounts/promo's to people who've been listed with Flux since the original version 1.0 came out, and was then re-numbered to 0.9.1 or whatever it was. Way before any RC version came online.

I too remember the day that he released his first beta, and started using it since it was already better than all the others IMO, did a lot of feedback and translation stuff.
But how is David going to sort out the ones who helped and those wh didnīt? Read through all the forums searching for every single beta-signup :-)

Which is why I suggested a simple 'time rule'! Peeps should have at least 12months with CF testing and actively posting their findings IMO.
Otherwise, word will get out that all people need to do is sign up on mp3car and download the trial to become a beta tester and get the discount.
I just don't think its fair for people to be allowed to join in and take advantgage at this late stage in the game

i think only the once who use the "search" function should get a discount...
because if you did, you would have seen that this has been discussed before, so you wouldn't have to double post...
quote david 3 month ago:
The discount will be available for a month and be made for all registered users at Flux, possibly require a forum registration... We will not be picking and choosing who gets it and who doesn't, it will be a very loose discount for all the testing and the information about how to obtain it will be posted here...
If you have been here a year or a week it will not matter...

I've still not seen any actual details of the promo/discount. Are there any?

DJ posted his original quote, but I've also had discussions offline with David about this point. AFAIK, he's sticking to what DJ quoted.

I kinda agree & see your points to a certain extent, if you've been real active throughout the beta testing & then to see some n00b who's done nothing but get in a few weeks before getting the same discount, but, in the end your talking about ~ $100 program, so what, I mean how much is it really gonna hurt you to know that everyone else saved the same $15-$20 that you did. obviously david did this to increase sales at release, which is cool
in the end, you know as well as I that no one decided to beta cf because of the $20 were going to save a few years from now in the end most beta for there own selfish reasons too, & the feedback is given because we love this free(atm) program & want it to be better, because we want to use it.
so what if david want's to extend the discount to all, it just means more sales for him & I say good for him, If you really want the best for david & cf then it shouldn't bother you all that much, in the end, so what, would it really make you feel better that others had to pay $20 more

Valid point, unless we're talking about a 50% savings.
edit: looks like we're talking about 10%. So on one hand I don't feel so bad about the "beta freeloaders" having the same deal that others do. On the other hand I feel a bit slighted for those folks that have spent the last year plus digging through the nooks and crannies looking for bugs and documenting the bajeezus out of them. oh well. I never signed up to be a beta tester to save money, I just wanted this to be a better product.

I just thought that Flux would reward their long time testers better than this!
When all is said and done the dev. time would have been significantly higher, and the feature list may not have been som comprehensive as it is without all our help.
I know we all signed up of our own accord, but some people have done a lot of work for Flux, and a $20 discount just seems 'tight' to me! Feels like Flux don't value our input!
Could they have done it without us?
Just noticed Streetdeck EU is on offer at $99
