System Shell
I have set CF as the system shell and all works ok, i need to make a few changes on the pc side of things and need windows back, can I do this by just disabling the shell and rebooting?....will that just reuse windows as the shell?

Exacly right, Its a main startup for Explorer.exe
But there will still be many services and application running in the background.
So im gonna clear in the msconfig and registry and change shell the last think i do.
You could also start explorer.exe manually from the taskbar aswell =)

So I just want to get this straight before I go enabling it as the shell myself when all is said and done. If CF closes, the desktop is running and explorer starts automatically?

No.
If you set CF as your sytem shell, your desktop and start menu (explorer.exe) will not have loaded. You have removed explorer.exe from your startup sequence and replaced it with CF.
Although you have replaced explorer.exe with CF, windows still handles it as if nothing whaschanged Ie. Normally if explorer hangs and closes, windows automatically restarts. If you manually stop explorer.exe through task manager or alike, windows will automatically restart explorer.exe and you keep going on your merry way.
Now that you have changed CF to run as your system shell, CF will behave the same way. If you close CF or it hangs, windows will automatically restart it.
You can just turn the 'run as system shell' setitng in CF off and windows will load like normal. I've done it plenty of times.

also if you exit Centrafuse while running as system shell it should load explorer, although there is a timing issue and it does not always work on slower systems...
it essentially sets explorer.exe back as the system shell, runs explorer.exe so it loads as shell, then sets centrafuse.exe back as the system shell...
the reason is when calling explorer.exe it will load the shell only if it's in the registry as the shell, otherwise you just get an explorer file browsing window...
so you should be able to just exit centrafuse and get your shell back, then run Centrafuse again and it will kill the shell and load centrafuse... if that does not work for you simply disable it as system shell, restart, make your changes, then set it back as the shell...

Oh wow, so I was wrong. That's only happened once before :P
So if you have Centrafuse set as system shell and you exit centrafuse, CF automatically makes the required chnges to allow explorer toopen properly?

it should... as I said it's sometimes a timing issue with slower systems and does not properly work... In that case set to not load as shell, restart, make your changes, change it back...
