I also did the XM refresh on their site ( http://www.xmradio.com/refresh/) about an hour earlier.
Ahh, one of those certainly made it happen for ya'!
I've also noticed an issue where the _first time_ that the module loads after the initial install/config, it will set itself to XMPCR. That can be an issue if you're using XMDirect. Once you configure it the 2nd time though, it'll stay put.

as for terrestrial signal.... here in wichita ks i dont think there's much need for repeaters, except for maybe right downtown (where im not)...... maybe that explains it? thanks for info

well ill throw this out there just incase whil i search:
when i come back from hibernation, it has all the channels up, but none of them refresh. the only way i can get it working again is close CF, open XMtest, kill XMtest, then open up CF and then it works fine again. is this a known problem?
its not the XMPCR problem, it stays XMdirect
EDIT:
in an attempt to get it somewhat working from hibernate, i installed up to 1.46.... still cant get it to do anything. is there an update that doesnt include sirius stuff?
this is what the XM log gives me:
Code:

A couple of people have written me privately asking what versions of everything I'm running since I don't seem to have the troubles that a lot of folks here do.
Here ya' go! - CF 1.42.0.0
- Satradio.dll 1.430 (11/17/2007)
- XM is a XMDirect receiver, running on a real serial port as COM1, Not buffered, and logging is DISABLED (gives quicker touchscreen response in module)
- Windows XP SP2, full install (nothing stripped)
- CF running as an app - not as the shell
I LIVE on XM - it's my main source of entertainment in the car - and I have no real usability issues - not to the degree that I see people talking about here. i.e., resume from hibernate is fine; channel's refresh as appropriate; dropouts are only from it seemingly not using the terrestrial signal as applicable - but that "should be" automatic within the receiver, I don't think it's a CF issue.
A side thought to looking for problems is to check the NAV module. It defaults to owning COM1 and would interfere with an XM receiver on that port.
Hope that helps!

thanks midi... when you say satcomm.dll, do you mean satradio.dll? where did you get version 1.43 from? the one that comes with CF 1.42 is 11/10/07

Whoops, yes.. I fixed it in the original message.

It was one of the interim releases that Scott had put out. Head up to the first post in this thread for details. And, it looks like he still has it online for download:
http://www.scottpm.com/cf/satradio/SatRadio_1_430.zip
or in general:

Scott, really sorry about this... these are LONG overdue. I don't know if this is moot now since you've released 1.461, but here are 3 logs for you. The first 2 are the ones you originally requested from me, and the third is the log using 1.461 (which may or may not be one of the same SatRadio.dll I already tested above).
In all 3 cases, it's not good news. Still no station information refreshing without manually pressing the channel.

Yes, if I manually unmute it, I can hear audio.
No, if I switch to Media, CF does not remute the line for me.
David,
any luck with further developments on the unmuting of SPDIF playback line?
Thanks.

well, i dont know what the difference is... but i cant get XM to work at all with CF v1.20+, no matter what version of satradio.dll. however, satradio.dll 1.43 works in CF 1.20.
NEW FIND: I seem to have found a solution to my hibernation problems with CF 1.20! On my test box, whenver i came back from hibernation or even started CF for the first time, it seemed that it wouldnt work unless i jump started the COM1 port with xmtest.
However, i hadnt been running CF as the shell. I made the CF the shell during my fiddlings and voula! it works fine now!!!. so it seems CF has trouble initializing the COM1 port with explorer.exe as the shell.... midi have you tried your setup without CF as the shell? i suspect not
i shall keep fiddling.

Well, I hate to blow a hole in your theory, but I don't run CF as the shell. I got in the habit of just running it as an app during the way early days since it wasn't exactly stable. Booting into the CarPC with a shell app that hangs wasn't pretty.
The jumpstart thing is interesting... Are you sure the NAV module isn't pointed at COM1?

Alrighty how are you starting CF when you boot then? startup folder? hmm.
i've always run my carpc with CF as the shell.. did it with the registry method before CF would do it for you (or before i noticed CF would do it for you, one or the other )
All this test computer has hooked up is keyboard, mouse, network, monitor and XM... during my fiddling i also took a look at IRQ's and no conflicts there either.
do you have some services disabled?
EDIT: spoke too soon... still have problems after hibernate... restarting CF does the trick though.... i wonder if there's a quick easy way to get CF to restart XM

Actually right now, it's a manual start, but since hibernate works for me, I rarely have to restart the machine. (sorry) And the install is pure, all services, everything as default out of the box and with all updates that were available at the time of install - about 6 months ago. I do NOT have auto updater running so I haven't taken any updates for a while.
You talk about a "test computer"... is this all happening on a desktop that you're working with, or is this the actually machine that will become your CarPC? The reason I ask is that I wonder if something "interesting" is going on with the power module within Windows based on the motherboard you're working with. i.e, I'm running on an M10000, but the power control/hibernate/resume will run differently on that board than say a Dell desktop.
And I've lost track... your specific issues after resume are ???

Sorry, i guess i need to consolidate my threads a little more... kinda hard to follow.
my XP install seems very similar to yours, SP2, all services, etc etc
my 'test computer' is a seperate computer sitting behind me. the motherboard is new, its an intel D201GLY2 which i plan on using in my current CarPC once i build my new case. right now i have a different CarPC actually in my car, so ill just be swapping mobo's.
the D201GLY2 is just running on a regular ATX psu right now, i dont think that could cause any problems. it will be running on DSATX once i make the mobo transfer.
since i have XM working somewhat reasonably, im going to install the XM into my car tomorrow and see how it runs on my current carPC... what a mess eh? :P
as of right now, my status/issues are: - CF 1.20, SatRadio.dll 1.42 OR 1.46 (no difference it seems)
- works perfectly after a clean boot straight to CF as shell
- works fine after a normal restart
- after resuming from hibernation, it shows the screen exactly as it was before hibernation, then a loading window pops up, and then the current song goes to "-", and nothing will update. channel list is still there.
- exiting CF (which restarts explorer and sends the pc to the windows desktop), and then relaunching CF resets XM, and it works perfect from there

Can you post your SatRaido logs (See Post 1 for detail), I can take a look at them to see what might be going on. Let me know what version satradio.dll you are using too, some of them will require CF 1.46 to be installed...

Well i can tell you right now im using the newest version for Satradio.dll, 1.461 (12/15/2007), with CF 1.20 and it's been working best. I can't get CF 1.46 to do anything at all.
Would you like logs from CF 1.20 or 1.46?
Well i see what you me re requiring CF 1.46, i cant generate a log with CF 1.20....... grrr... but XM actually works with CF 1.20/Satradio.dll 1.461, save for some hibernation issues
