destinator acting crazy :s

ok, tried nav again today, and still can't rely on it.
all my settings in CF are correct, nav works, and maybe 5min later it points to somewhere i'm not. the speed and locked sats are correct though...
for example i'm driving along in street A, my map will show I'm driving somewhere between street C and D (yes indeed, i'm driving somewhere where there isn't even a street :s)
what is causing this? anyone else have this problem?
i really like to get it fixed, so i can move on getting all the rest set up correctly (phone, plugins, ...)

Problems too!!!

I have similar problems too, where it will show that I'm somewhere else. Even worse than that, sometimes it wont even function! I'll get updates on the amount of locked sat's but screen isnt moving!(?) as if it's not connecting or something, very frustrating cause I HATE wasting my money! I want GPS all the time NOT sometimes.... It might have worked for me about 4 times in the week that I've had it hooked up, and I do a good amount of driving.

tested it again today, here's what it did:

in the morning i drove from home to place A with gps: no problem
a little later i drove to place B without gps: no problem
then i wanted to drive home with gps: gps shows i'm still on place A; and goes the way i drive, so for example i start and drive 100m, then make a left, and drive again 100m, the gps shows me moving, but starting from place A instead of B, causing i'm not on a road.
i think this is how it goes...
gps does show locked sats all the time, shows my speed correct, ...
when i make a left i see myself making a left on the map, it's just that the map is not at the correct place...

The fact that you're speed and sat count is right leads me to your gps receiver.

Destinator just parses the information received from your gps receiver and puts a picture on the screen. You need to determine whether the information you receiver is giving destinator is correct. Try using GPSinfo (can be downloaded from the downloads section) and look at the data on the screen.

If you go for a drive with the receiver on, it should track you fine. Turn your receiver off (note the last position recorded), and drive a few minutes down the road. If your position remains the same when you turn the gps receiver back on and the track starts from your old position, then you know it's the reciver not Destinator.

I actually have been having success since I made my post! It's almost as if the pc and receiver were reading this forum and decided to act right! It's been working fine ever since. I just hope it doesn't start acting up once I hit the "post reply" button
Funny thing is that my house and complex is too new and it isnt on any maps yet so when I get to my entrance the marker just stays on the main road but it still changes direction when I make turns.

Dj,

You can get GPSinfo from the USGlobalSat website here. You want 'GPSInfo Utility Win XP/2000 (.zip)'. You might as well grab the manual as well, but once you get it going, you'll figure it ou easy enough.

little update:

have not tested with the globalsat utility, but...

when i resume from hibvernation, open nav, it shows i'm in the wrong place. when i just exit CF and open it again (making the nav to reload), nav works perfect...

when i have the chance i will test the globalsat utility, but i stillthink there's nothing wrong with the receiver, but i think it's software related...
ps: will also install the new 1.43 and see what it does...

What mode are you using?
Sirf or Nmea? What baud rate do you have it set to?

I have tested it with different settings (NMEA and SIRF) and different baud rates.
now it's set to NMEA and baud rate (i think) is 19000 and something...
ps: SIRF gives me the same prblem, other baud rates too
