Kmixer 100% Volume Question

Just a quick thought I had tonight...

I know the Windows XP Mixer apparently lowers the bit depth when you lower the volume which is why people say to leave it at 95% when outputing to a headunit and use the HU to control volume.

What if im outputting straight into the amp or into a processor. Am i getting lower quality sound not running at 100% volume?

CarPC is yet to make it into my car to test.

Cheers

I don't know the exact answer to your question but if you're outputting straight to the amp, I doubt you'd want the volume up that high all the time. If you're outputting to a processor with a separate volume control then you could get away with running the volume at 95%.

My sound runs through an EQ, which is where I control the volume from, then to the amps and I have my volume set in Windows at 75%. If I start to go higher in Windows the volume increments get too large for me to comfortably control from the EQ, but I don't notice any change in SQ. Hope this helps somewhat, but you might want to try the Car Audio forum for more help
