Is Centrafuse reading the file name or the tag data?

Annoying media display issues

I have thousands of albums on my car pc and each album is tagged as ONE artist only.

iTunes tag all their albums with one artist only to avoid creating multiple artists per album. Amazon also do the same.

Even albums with multiple artists (eg compilations) will have the actual artist name in the TITLE and not the ARTIST tag - the ARTIST tag will, for example, say Various Artists.

My point is that a feature should be introduced to enable/disable the showing of ARTIST in list views of albums. have a look at the picture below:

The album above is a compilation album by Tim Westwood. Therefore the artist for each tag is Tim Westwood, and the TITLE is in the form "<artist> - <title>."

Every track has the same artist, so why display it? The result is that the full track title becomes unreadable.

I appreciate that people organise their media in differant ways but the general system is 1 ARTIST per album.

There is also an issue with the diplay of video's. When browsing through the video's folders, the icons are fine. But when viewing the actual files the icon display makes it impossible to read any filename - it should therefore be in list form.

Appart from that, great program.

We just read the title, we would have to manually parse the title... strange that it is stored in the title and not just built on the fly when needed...

I actually do have this on future features list... if you load multiple albums into a playlist, it is good to see the artist, but if it is all the same artist it should not be displayed...

Hi. Yes the artists name is actually in the title tag. This is to avoid creating multiple artists for each album. In the example above, 1 album would have created around 20 different artists. I agree centrafuse should detect that when all the artist are the same it should not be displayed and only displayed when there are multiple artists. Any ideas when you might be implementing this?

Also what are your thoughts on the video file display mentioned in the 1st post?

Would also love to see smart playlists (eg 50 most recent, 50 most played etc).

Ok, I have temorary fixed this issue by altering the queries! It now queries tracknum instead of artist.
