It's not a sound card at all. It sits in between your sound card (or cards) of choice and the speaker outs. The computer doesn't even know it's installed at all.
Seconding your concerns re: echo cancellation - - -I don't think any FE that puts out phone bluetooth support without addressing full duplex echo cancellation can / should state they have 'a solution'. It's just not acceptable to have hands free in the car any other way today.
Oh very cool, so I don't have to lose my soundcard that I love for my music. Awesome.
I agree totally with what you say, and yes, the CF folks have in fact said that echo exists with theirs as well. I do have high hopes for it as a great alternative to SD's phone module, so hopefully with the card you've pointed us to, it'll be the way to go!

Will this software be available as standalone so it can be used with other frontends or just CF?

More to the point, so it can be used without ANY front end.

Have you tried Centrafuse????
I think The question of a stand alone version of Bluetooth module would be a good idea.
If the centrafuse version is better than Phonecontrol which was used until now, Zorro would worry about it.
But i don't think Fluxmedia aim to make competition on this.
But it would be a very good idea.

Thats funny because I use Belkin for everything. Routers, Access Points, and the Wifi USB adapter is also Belkin, and all have worked flawlessly.

Well, before it was just "soon", then "real soon" now it's "feel(ing) pretty good" about "this week":

CF always says there going to release installs and does it at a later date. David and the crew just want to make sure everything works. Would you rather have a buggy piece of software because you want it now, or a nice solid software that works like it should with very little issues.

These announcements are getting a bit old. I received an e-mail from Flux Media on 10/2/07 stating that 1.5 would be available at the end of month. Here is a portion of the e-mail I cut and pasted below
Subject :Centrafuse Q4 Sales Event
"Sneak Peak!
Also, as a preferred Flux member, we’re giving you an exclusive first look at our new Centrafuse update, due out later this month.
Flux is proud to announce Centrafuse 1.5, our first major update to Centrafuse since its initial release. Centrafuse 1.5 will be available through our website at www.centrafuse.com at the end of October.

The bluetooth software has it's own GUI seperate from Centrafuse and can be used by itself, BUT the Bluetooth Stack's API will be locked to Centrafuse and therefore cannot be used with other front-ends.

1.5 was skipped for many many reasons, and we are straight to 2.0 RC1 now, which, dare I say, will be avilable by the end of the week.

Software implementation changes all the time. Even though CF works on something, a better version may be avaliable later, so they decided to go with the later. The way I see it, perfection takes time, get over it. Atleast CF is getting updated version out, i havent seen any other paid front-end software offer updates the way CF does.
