Yeah I would also hope they are going to provide a list of compatible dongles as well.

my bt is CSR - Cambridge silicone radio. You should be able to see it on the properties (either in the bluetooth software or the hardware list)

But for those of us that don't already own a dongle, or currently own a Broadcom one, we need to know which one to buy.

Ok,
How do you tell if a dongle is CSR or ISSC based -- I looked on my system properties and didn't find anything about what chipset my Kensignton USB bluetooth adapter (2.0) is using.

What's the best solution for a BT dongle to use with this new stuff? Any suggestions as I tried searching, but mainly want it to work with CF the best.

Infinite, read the thread (at least pgs. 3 - 5) and you'll see what's been discussed about this so far.
By the way, I have that exact CPU you have for my new PC, and that thing is awesome!

If you have a Windows Bluetooth software installed, i.e. a "My Bluetooth Places", etc, it usually says somewhere in the local device properties pages. Also, a tool like USBView will usually give you a hint about the chipset in plain text. It definitely will give you a vendor id, which for CSR would be 0x0A12.

Addressing the question about supported USB dongles:
It does seem as if many broadcomm devices will be supported looking through the USB inf's that we have. When we find out for sure what is supported by our stack vendor, we will be sure to get that information out to everyone.

A Bluetooth dongle running a Wincomm stack version 1.7 versus the hardware ISSC-based Bluetooth dongle-free adapter....huh?
Just tell me which one to buy. "Bob's Bluetooth dongle, Model 1A"...I'll get that one and be done with it!
We have been using a Dlink DBT-120 in testing, it's been flawless.

I did a bit of digging around, according to smeesseman bluetooth dongles containing CSR or ISSC chips should be fully compatible. Below are the vendor IDs for these two:
ISSC Vendor ID: 0x1131
CSR Vendor ID: 0x0a12
Additional the broadcom vendor ID is 0x0a5c which is NOT compatible.
So... how do you find out the vendor ID of your bluetooth adaptor... go to Device Manager, double click on your bluetooth dongle (there will be several devices relating to bluetooth, on my system the correct one was "Bluetooth USB controller"), go to the details tab, once in the details tab select hardware ids from the property dropdown menu, you should see something like VID_0000 where 0000 is the vendor ID.
Hope this helps guys. By the way, vendor ID list was taken from http://fxr.watson.org/fxr/source/dev/usb/usbdevs (there are plenty of other vendors listed if anyone wants to check theirs.

Symbian
Will this phonecontroll work with Symbian phones? I know PhoCo did'nt work with Symbian.
Also, if I buy XE now, are it possible to upgrade to XLE later, when I need navigation?

But all this info only helps if you already own a dongle and want to see if it's ISSC or CSR. If you don't already own one, or you own a Broadcom one which we know probably won't work, we need to know what we can buy. This is why the compatibility list will be very important.

Yes, but upgrade feature is not available right now. It should be after version 1.50 is released.

I tripped over a page that may help folks...
After my Kensington 33348 turns up to be CRAP (the drivers are just sucky WIDCOMM bloatware) I just bought one of these... less than $8 shipped:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=310022462432
This thread caused me to wonder if this is CSR based, and in wandering the world, I tripped into this site:
http://www.bonphi.com/bluetooth-usb-dongles.html
Found my adapter (look for something that looks like yours, much of what you buy retail is just OEM re-branded) and the answer popped positive:
http://www.bonphi.com/BH-0102014.html
One additional thing that I think is useful to point out... As you shop for a Bluetooth dongle, be sure it's native USB 2.0. There's no reason to run a USB 1.1 dongle these days.
