Question Cannot get Pharos/Microsoft GPS to work with CF

Before I buy CF, I want to make sure that my GPS works fine with it.

It is a Pharos/Microsoft Sirf-3 USB GPS. It works fine in other software such as Streets & Trips but doesn't seem to lock onto any satellites in CF.

Yes, I did set the baud rate to 9600...

What can I do to make it work and will it work with CF at all?

Thanks!

People have said that there seems to be an issue with SiRF support... Flip it to NEMA and see how things go.

I change it to NMEA in CF but still nothing happens. Is there any other place for settings for the GPS?

Try setting the baud rate to 4800,N,8,1 instead of 9600.
Also, you may need software like SirfDemo that allows you to switch from SIRF to NMEA mode.

If you open up a terminal window and view the output of the COM port for your GPS, you should see NMEA formatted sentences, similar to this:
$GPGGA,123519,4807.038,N,01131.000,E,1,08,0.9,545. 4,M,46.9,M,,*47

For reference, here's SiRFDemo:

And this may help as well... It's an app called GPSViewer:

Hmm... Are you just getting a 404 or? I can get to it from here, straight off that link and with a flushed cache. Try again?

Thanks! That worked for the GPS!

Too bad CF won't read any russian mp3 tags. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even load half my mp3 files from DVD. Other than that, it seems like a great piece of software.
